P0a80 won't reset after reconditioning.

    I have a 2014 prius c three. I got the p0a80 code. I pulled the battery out and reconditioned the modules. One was bad and I replaced it. I balanced all the cells by hooking them in parallel and letting it sit for 24 hours. I put it back in and it won't start throwing the p0a80 code again and again. I disconnect the 12 volts power each time for 5 minutes to reset the code and clear it with the dr prius app. I let it sit overnight and still the same thing this morning. All the voltages are within .15 volts. A couple of times it threw p0adc, p0ae0, p0ae7 also. Those are relay related codes. It only threw those a couple of times and there not currently up. Any advise would be great. I need to get my car going.

    Yes during reconditioning I pulled each module down to 2.5 volts at .5 amp draw. All of them charged back up to 5000 mah at least. After the billionth time of disconnecting the 12 volt system and waiting 5 minutes to clear the codes, I left the 12 volt on. I just happened to try and start it hours later and it started. I have 50 miles down and the p0a80 has disappeared. It’s running great.

    I'm trying to recondition my pack ....can u tell me what tools was used to recondition your pack .....and how u was able to check the capacity of the modules....
    Also when doing the process do you disconnect the 12volts battery and how long do you leave the high voltage battery for between charge and discharge

    I used a Tenergy T-180.



    I wasted a lot of time with bad information from youtube videos. Several indicate pulling down the cells to 6-6.3 volts I did this many cycles with limited success. I found a military document indicating to pull the cells down to 40% of nominal voltage. I found a video about using a prolong setup to recondition the entire pack. I grabbed the numbers off of it. Prolong pulls the battery down to 60% of nominal voltage then charge back up. Then pull it down to 50% and charge back up. And finally pull it down to 40% and charge back up.



    The nominal voltage of the cell is 7.2 volts. 1st I discharged it at a rate .5 amps down to 4.3 volts. I charged it fully at a rate of 1 amp. 2nd I discharged it at a rate of .5 amps down to 3.6 volts. I charged it fully at a rate of 1 amp. 3rd I discharged it at a rate of .5 amps to 2.9 volts. I charged it fully at a rate of 1 amp. This procedure worked great returning the cells to full capacity.

    I had one T-180 charger and this took forever, but it worked. I'm simply going to buy the Prolong setup now.

    What is the rationale for the low amp charge discharge rates ?
    I have been doing this to these batteries for over 10 years now at 1C 6.5 amps up and down (no lower than 6volts and let it delta as high a voltage as they want, my delta is 400 mv.), restores them just fine
    I never found any benefit at all to lower amp rates, does anyone have any data that shows it is supposed to or did ?

    Almost all inexpensive hobby chargers can only dissipate 5 or 10 watts when discharging. That and most folks are cautious when exceeding the normal "in use" voltage range.

    If your experience shows good results with more aggressive amperage rates, then great.
