    Is this a correct definition of breakthrough infections?

    1. People who previously had COVID-19 infection as diagnosed by some antibody test, or
    2. People who previously had a (EUA approved) COVID-19 vaccine course completed 14 or more days before clinical presentation.

    Vaccines still working very well. All delta variants these days... direct report from the trenches is 98% of our COVID hospitalizations are not fully vaccinated.

    Of those unfortunate who are fully vaccinated and hospitalized, comoribidites are universal (obesity, advanced age, diabetes, etc) . N= many hundreds in this guy's local sample set.

    Take home message = vaccines remain highly effective and there would be no need for lockdowns or masks if nearly everyone were to be vaccinated by now.

    This is very misleading.
    Yes, it appears vaccinated individuals can still carry the virus.
    However, while they technically “get sick”, they end up in the hospital, or morgue far less often than the unvaccinated.
    The virus is also a moving target. It adapts as it meets more challenges.
    The more infected people in the world, the more adaptations appear.
    As we have seen, some of these adaptations are worse than others.

    Preventing the spread of this virus is critical. Social distancing, masks, and vaccines all work to some degree. Unfortunately they only work if everyone participates in the solution. So far, we don’t have that cooperation everywhere yet.

    ALL of those hospitalized are unfortunate.

    the comorbidities haven't changed, from my understanding.

    as far as restricting people's rights to travel, religion, assembly, and freedom in general go, please revisit this idea in the fall, as the govt attempts to kill the economy once again for a 98-99% survivability rate.

    Says the drunk driver who not only injures or kills himself, but more importantly others. Then when he doesn't die in the accident also feels he has the right to get treated in the hospital again on the government's dime.

    i have read that people with comorbidities are not as aware as they should be that the vaccine isn't as effective for them.
    while some have to work, etc,. some are socializing as if they are fully safe.

    • right to travel - own or rent a car and go anywhere. My ride is a 2019 Std Rng Plus Model 3 that cost $2.75/100 miles around town not counting the 'free' charging. SuperCharging runs about $3.50/100 miles or $3.00/100 miles if I spend a night at a free breakfast and free charging motel.
    • religion - a Unitarian, Luke 18:9-14, "a Pharisee and a tax collector went to the temple to pray. The Pharisee prayed about how good he was, but the tax collector asked for God’s mercy as he was a sinner. Jesus said that it was the tax collector who went home justified before God. He concluded, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." You will have time to study the Bible and reflecting on the lessons, review your own behavior and pray to be more like Jesus taught us.
    • assembly - it is called Zoom but there others readily available.
    • freedom in general - your freedom ends at my nose.

    Vaccinations have helped our economy to move forward. The remaining pandemic is for those who refuse the vaccine. Like 'chastity', it is its own reward and punishment. IMHO, I would not want them working for me or as a co-worker. They are a danger to everyone else but most of all, to themselves.

    I was thinking that the estimated 30% smallpox death rate was for Europeans, a.k.a. White people, who had been exposed to it for long enough to have evolved and selected for some small measure of resistance. Estimates for various Native American peoples were generally higher:

    "Estimates of mortality rates resulting from smallpox epidemics range between 38.5% for the Aztecs, 50% for the Piegan, Huron, Catawba, Cherokee, and Iroquois, 66% for the Omaha and Blackfeet, 90% for the Mandan, and 100% for the Taino. "

    1862 Pacific Northwest smallpox epidemic: "The death rate was highest in southeast Alaska and Haida Gwaii—over 70% among the Haida and 60% among the Tlingit. Almost all native nations along the coast, and many in the interior, were devastated, with a death rate of over 50% for the entire coast from Puget Sound to Sitka, Alaska, part of Russian America at the time. In some areas the native population fell by as much as 90%. The disease was controlled among colonists in 1862 but it continued to spread among natives through 1863. An estimated 20,000 died in what is now British Columbia, ... This amounts to about two-thirds of all natives in British Columbia at the time."

    Though considering the huge laundry list of imported diseases that nearly wiped out Native American populations, it might be unreasonable to put most of the blame on smallpox alone.

    What levers do the feds even have for a serious crackdown? Isn't such normally among the powers and rights typically reserved to the states and to the people? Such as this pic from the same lake:

    the economy was stifled by governments, not a virus

    the economy was then released by governments, not a vaccine

    knowing the root cause/effect seems to be pivotal in forming an opinion.

    at first I wondered what that man was doing under the flags. then I realized it was just a kid. man, he's so young to be caught up in a bunch of political garbage. poor kid.

    thankfully the fed is wise enough to stay out of state business, for now. the states and The People choose for themselves, the fed is just the fat guy at the buffet table begging for more. he knows if he demands more instead of begging, it will be ugly.

    Our country (yours too?) lost ~610,000 USA citizens from COVID-19 mostly during a bleach advocating, UV light lover, mask mocker. So now the virus mutation, Delta, has become the pandemic of the unmasked, not vaccinated and risks my vaccination state. The Bible has some advice:

    The common sources claim COVID-19 vaccinated are seeing less than 1% deaths. As for the relative infection rates, it may be possible to use partial fractions to come up with rates. Just it is easier to share reports it is as infectious as 'chickenpox.'

    I was asking about "natural immunity" from earlier Covid infection. The data that is normally discussed is only about vaccinated breakthrough infections vs unvaccinated.
