I gave up not having my location tracked when I got my first analog Motorola flip phone in 1995. If your cell phone is turned on and able to receive calls or data connections, then then cellular network has a pretty good idea where you are at all times, so it can deliver calls or data to you. Kind of fundamental to how cellular technology works. And the cellular companies can provide that info to law enforcement on demand. As OJ Simpson found out, years ago. And all digital phones (smartphone or not) from the early 2000's include GPS to support 911 locating. So I am not particularly concerned about the telematics in my car.

What about hacking? As in, someone hacks into Toyota and bricks all our vehicles?

As far as PP goes, the Remote Connect service can't even start the car. Maybe a hacker will do me a favor and brick the infotainment system for me. Oh, yeah, I basically do that to myself every day by turning off the 11.6" screen. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

There are two groups of computer users....
Those who have been hacked, and those who are going to be hacked.

It will be interesting to see how the first ransomware messages will appear.....

    Maybe on the infotainment screen....
