Hello, the coolant light flashes few second, then get steady and then goes off. Usually at highway speed. I noticed sometimes the coolant gargle and sometimes spilled over in the reservoir tank. How do i solve this problem? Thanks

Check the water pump coolant reservoir for movement after full warm up, verify the radiator fans come on with ac, possibly remove trapped air and ensure you are not getting the severe startup rattle or adding coolant. The water pump, fans, thermostat or head gasket are the most likely. Don't wait to solve this even if it means taking it to a mechanic.

Water pumps should be changed out at 100k for preventative maintenance... its very easy to do on the prius. The inverter can go much longer because its dealing with different Temps.

The car stranded him on one of these Chicago river bridges and then rolled uncontrolled into the Westin. The owner lived but vowed to never again own a gen3, especially since he had just cleaned his egr cooler.

    Mine went out at 169,000
The new one has over 100,000 on it now....... But I'm not going to change it. They are not cheap....especially if you don't need one.
    Inverter pump is original.

Damage to an engine from not changing a water pump is not worth it. To me.

Yes it's a good idea to keep it cool till the head gasket blows.

Yeah I truly believe the headgasket is a cascading thing.. the bad rings allow more blow by which gets into the intake and into the egr cooler that gets clogged prematurely and the cylinders overheat and kapow.....on 2015 and newer they upgraded the rings.. however the egr cooler gets clogged you will have the same problem.. so I clean egr every 60k and have a catch can for the blowby. I want my car to last 300k I hope.. I can't afford 30k cars every 10 years.

I'm at 280,000 but I have replaced everything except the entire engine. I sometimes put in a bit of marvel mystery oil in the crank when it gets low.... run 10 w 30 syn and a CC.

At 280k you are getting your money out of the vehicle. And think of all the gas savings.. and fewer trips to the gas station. I get about 440 miles before I have to fill again.

The irony is the majority of Prius owners can't justify their car's higher upfront costs without offsetting gas savings. At $4 a gallon in Texas Prii sold for thousands over msrp because the payback was quick. At $2.50 a gallon those economics are weak.

A significantly flawed hybrid redesign that sold in large numbers between 2010-2015 has produced a problem for Toyota's image. It really bugs me when gen3 used car buyers show up here with head gaskets, oil burning and brake boosters or worse, along with a new car payment.
