Hey guys I just had a new Sony head unit installed in my 2015 Prius 5. When driving home I noticed the traction control light and abs lights on the dash. This prevents me from using cruise control. This is my car I used for work and drive hundreds of miles a day. Please help me figure out how to get it back to normal.

after a YouTube search I tried pushing the ignition button twice, gas pedal twice, shifting to neutral etc but that didn’t help.

    thanks in advance

Its quite possible the radio has nothing to do with it. These cars have a flawed brake booster / master cylinder design which has a special extended warranty (customer support program) from Toyota. If you read the codes with a proper scanner we might know if it qualifies but simply taking it down to the dealer could be the ticket for a free fix.

Reading the diagnostic codes will reveal why the lights turned on, and that is important to know, no matter whether it turns out to be the issue covered by the service campaign or something else.

If you don't have easy access to a code reader to find out what the codes are, you can get them by using a short jumper wire and counting the blinks of some dash lights, as many posts here on PriusChat explain. The codes can be looked up in the repair manual (more info) or just posted here, as lots of readers here will be familiar with them, or able to look them up.
