To the point, does anyone know the stock spring rates on a 2014 Prius V? I'm considering upgrading to coil overs but would like to know the stock rates cause I don't want to go nuts. Maybe increase front rate by 20% and rear rate by 40%.

Due to pandemic/work considerations I've had to downsize my fleet and am now committing to my bone stock 2014 Prius v as my long term daily driver. Previously my wife's car, I'm really just getting to know it. 50,000 miles.

To my surprise, once you start pushing it the car handles pretty well. The power is what it is. The suspension works better than I expected.

First upgrade is a set of 17 x 8 Konig Dekagram wheels (on back order for two months now) and some 214/40/17 wheels and BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S tires. I've had these on two other cars and expect a great improvement over the Yokohama Blue Earth S34 tires on 16's.

The next area to address is the understeer, which though not awful could be improved. Searching this forum it sounds like the TRD bar (PTR11-47010) rear sway bar is the ticket. Also on order.

Final area to address is Shocks/Springs. I cannot find any decent shocks which I expect are going to make substantial improvement. The KYB GR-2 are under impressive. If there were some decent Bilsteins or Koni's or KYB AGx I'd give it a try. Stock springs aren't terrible, a little bit more spring rate rear to front my help decrease understeer but I don't want to go too much stiffer. Stiffer springs with stock shocks will probably worsen the problem.

This leave coil-overs in order to get better shock. Which begs the question, what are the stock spring rates? A slight drop would be nice, but mostly I just don't want to make the ride rock hard. Just get enough shock in place to stop the "floating" over pavement undulations.

I apologize for being so long winded.

One more thing. I've attached (or tried to attach, I'm pretty bad at this) a spring rate chart which I think might have been downloaded from Priuschat in the past, but I'm not sure if this is for the Prius v or the regular 3rh gen Prius.

    Thanks

Hi Allen, any luck with this? I looked up the part numbers and they are different from the prius, plugin, and V, as are the GVWRs for the vehicles.
