Can't Google this part because I don't even know what it's called

I'm looking for the little fabric loop thingie that you pull up on to access the under floor storage area. I can see that it attaches with a Phillips screw on the inside, but my loop on the outside is about to rip clear through, so I'd like to get a new one.

For some reason, Googling "little fabric loop thingie" didn't get me any good results. :)

Anyone know what its called or have a part number?

    Thanks!

It probably is not sold separately, so why not buy a nylon strap from a crafts store and screw it on?

The passenger's compartment end is looped and double stitched; the compartment end has grommet. I'd rather not re-invent the wheel if possible.

If I can't find the part, perhaps I'll put in some 12v actuators -- lol

Thanks -- I broke down and actually called the stealership. They would be glad to order the part for me. It comes with the box and is only $476.33.

Guess I'll be making my own.

Something like these? They're probably about double the width of the actual strap, if memory serves, but maybe you can squeeze it in? It would be a long, heavy duty version lol.

I believe in circling back because threads are Googled and found in the future.

I liked Xliderider's idea and looked around, but everything was way to wide and too long. Yeah, I could cut it, but that kinda defeats the purpose especially since I'm looking for just a tiny loop inside the car.

I went with bisco's eBay idea. No one on eBay selling the piece I wanted, so it involved emailing people who were selling the entire floor and seeing whether they would be willing to sell just the little pull tab. For obvious reasons, most said "no," but one guy said, "how much?" Ten dollars later it showed up in my mailbox.

Yeah, that's a lot for a little tab but the convenience factor made it worth it: Get from mailbox. Unscrew old tab. Screw in new tab. Done.

I had a look, see what this strap entailed, and Lordy: I would just root through your old odd-and-ends drawer, or cut a bit of strap of an old/knackered pack sack, hockey pads, what have you. Granted one end is doubled back in a loop: a few stitches, done. and I don't see a grommet on the other end being essential; just center the end of the strap over the screw hole, maybe separate the threads a bit first with an awl, then drive the screw through.

That's the key to me and the stitching on the loop is actually the part that failed. I am a Prius camper and need a very small but strong loop as I use it to lift a fairly heavy load on the floor (my living area) to get a few inches of space where I can then access the under floor storage.

With some effort, I can lift the floor about five or six inches (using a rod passed through the loop to let me get a good grip), then shove something in the gap to keep it from closing. That lets me access the under floor storage area through that gap.

Given my setup, a large loop would not work. I guess my need for that specific strap is pretty unique.

If you make it out of some 900 Denier nylon. You'll be able to control the width and the diameter of the loop that you want to make No problem You could even possibly make one of the silver d-rings for the generation 2 I know has them a tie down points behind the back seat they're chrome You need a different screw but I bet you could make one of something like that work and screw it in to the tray like the nylon is now and put a little nut on the other side and the tab a lock tight or grind off the metal and pretty much permanent till the plastic wears out

Sounds like that metal loop that has a screw or bolt that goes through it that are tie downs I can't remember if the generation 3 has them but the generation 2 has four of them they're chrome Nice looking things that pop up and down or swivel around so you could have that thing mounted swivel it around to the up position set your whatever you want on it on on it and you would have a half inch of space on inch of space so you could stick your bar through there and grab hold to the metal eye and lift up the plastic trunk lid with whatever stuff you have on top of it I don't know exactly what you're saying but anyway yeah probably won't work.
