100-MPG Prius for 2009

Unfortunately, no real news there - the article was posted back in April, and the rumors have been flying all summer about what the next generation of Prius will have. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything to get excited about until Toyota comes out and gives us a real idea of what the specs will be.

 

I do like the line about Japanese full economy rateings not necessarily matching US driving styles. The Japanese "EPA" numbers are even more inflated than the EPA numbers so it would be a marketing blunder to advertise with them here.

 

Again, I'm tired to tell Toyota's target for 2009 Prius is 40km/L Japanese 10-15 mode test and it can be converted to about EPA 62mpg combined mileage.

Anyway, we have more than 200,000 Prius drivers and only 39 drivers (42 now :blink: ) are spot-lighted as 1000 mile-club members, it's only 0.02%.

At an extra £8000 plus tax I calculate I will have to drive in excess of 90,000 miles to break even over my standard Prius! (thats using UK gas prices and UK gallons).

 

It's just another aftermarket conversion company... they're sprouting up all over the place. What we're all waiting for is an OEM plug in Prius offered by Toyota.
