Anyone have a situation where their 2007 Prius starts up but won’t go into drive or reverse?

You can temporarily fix it by disconnecting the battery in the trunk for about 5 minutes.

then you can drive it just a little bit and the red triangle comes on along with a beep and the next time you start the car it won’t go in drive or reverse, again.

    And the circle continues.

Any ideas before you spend a fortune at a dealership???

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

How many miles on the vehicle / hybrid battery?
It sounds like a HV leak, most likely in the HV battery case. If you used a OBD2 scanner on this vehicle, you may find DTC P0AA6 / 612.

Post any retrieved OBD2 codes in this thread for further guidance, you will likely need a hybrid compatible OBD2 scanner.

Here is the workup for P0AA6, notice how this DTC has related 3 digit INFs codes (subcodes), knowing the INF may help narrow down the issue and potentially save time and money during diagnostics/repairs : https://attachments.priuschat.com/attachment-files/2018/04/145252_2006_Prius_RM_-_P0AA6.pdf

Here is an image to help visualize each of the INFs :

BUT.......before you get all worried about a problem with the hybrid battery,
you really should check the 12 V battery and it's connections first.
