PROLONG® BATTERY CHARGER for Rent

How much to rent from you guys? I live in Sacramento and just bought a 13' Prius and would like to use this charger to help balance the cells. It wouldn't let me PM you, it would just give an error.

Would this be for the 2013 Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHV) in your profile?

Was under the impression that HA didn't have an offering for lithiums. Hoping @mmmodem will chime in, or someone with a PiP.

 

It has the NiMH battery for hybrid and a lithium battery for plugging in/ EV only mode.

 

NM, I think I am mistaken. I think there is only a Li-Ion battery....

 

The last time I spoke to the Prolong folks, they didn't make a lithium version. But that was >4 years ago so I don't know if anything has changed. Yes, the PiP traction battery is lithium, not both.

I would speculate the Prolong charger is less useful for a PiP for balancing the batteries because you already have the ability to charge up to full (85% SoC) with the EVSE and drain down to two hybrid bars by letting it sit idle in the driveway or driving slowly. In essence, I balance the battery one full cycle every day I drive it.

 

That is not a balancing of the battery. That's just normal use.
