2006 - P0a80 error

    Gotcha, so this isn't something that you'd just leave on the public streets... well unless you want to run an extension cord and cover it so people don't trip on it.

    @SFO usually brings his pack inside and does the work there:).

    So there are ways to make it work(y).

    Ok so used the Hybrid Assistant app, and first... information overload on the screen! But more importantly found the battery test/check option. Not sure if the app tells the car to do anything, but the engine kicked on to charge the battery, and that #3 cell was charging up, and literally 5 seconds later considerably lower than all the other cells only to charge up again, and back down, after about 6 times of that I figured I had enough info to know that cell 3 is definitely wonky. If I had to guess, knowing how little I know, I'm guessing it's needing to be replaced not "reconditioned", so I mean there's that.

    Now to convince my wife to clean out the garage, which she claims would take an act of god, so I can park it there and work at getting the whole battery out at a slow and steady pace, too bad you can't just replace a single cell without removing the whole thing but yanno... car logic planning.

    car manufacturers don't get paid to make cars easily serviceable, it's the last item on most consumers checklists :cool:

    Yeah I realize that, otherwise as far as cars have advanced technologically we'd get more information than "Check Engine" when things go wrong.

    Do you mean like the information you get when a PC 'blue screens'? Just joking.

    Most people wouldn't know what to do with the information, and as you need to consult the repair manual anyway, for most it would involve seeing a 'professional'. The number of people that could actually make sense of any additional info would be in the minority, I suspect.

    Follow up on this, mileage is actually 136k and very briefly got excited that it may still be under warranty... then I remember the other part of it "whatever comes first" i.e. 10 years or 150k ... so pretty sure Toyota won't do warranty jack for that.

    That said, still haven't done anything other than light city driving on a couple days of the week (drop my kid at school), reason for not doing anything are complicated and non-car related but now weighing the pros and cons to new battery vs trying to rebuild the old one. I'm kind of leaning towards the new one though, saw some quasi-local dealerships as low as $1750 for a new one. I am curious how much the cost of labor is if for them to do it since said "issues" might make it difficult to find the time to swap it all out myself.

    Also threw up the p3013 code too, yeah I know it's module 3 that's funky. This causes the fan to run constantly too.
