    Greetings and salutations!

I am the possessor of a 2015 Prius. I don't know what model it is. There is no plate on the door, the pillar, under the plastic cover in front of the passenger seat. All i have is a VIN. VIN results didn't really give me anything other than engine specs.

I say i am a 'possessor' of this vehicle as it is a company car. Why don't i ask my company what it is? Because this company is disorganized and everybody is doing everything and one more request to get something is probably an annoyance to get this issue answered. So, I'm on my own.

I need to know all i can about this vehicle, thus my registration with this forum.
I saw this: Gen 3 (2010-2015) Toyota Prius Forums | PriusChat
    And that was very informative.

    I need help.
I will lurk and search this forum, but i may not find what i need. The windshield has a crack all across it, and i need to get it replaced. When i had time to call around and get quotes, i ran into problems right away:

    " i have a 2015 Prius, i need a quote on a windshield and install, please."
    "What model?"
    "I onno."
"I'm looking at 11 different windshields here"
"...Uhh, let me get my stuff together, as it seems i do not. I'll call you back."
(Searches for badging, tags, under hood, everywhere)

    " i have a 2015 Prius, i need a quote on a windshield and install, please."
    "What model?"
    "Base"
    "I got 5 windshields here"

We then go back and forth as to what accessories are on the car, none, save for the backup camera, which i don't understand what that has to do with the windshield. How can i make this process easier?

    Thank you,

    Ryan

    What @bisco said ^^.

For example, the VIN for my wife's car yields this info and much more.

Okay, Thank you bisco and jerry! it's a grade three, whatever that is.

Um, it says it has "Advanced Voice Recognition"....for what? Would this be in the owner's manual, i actually have that.

That Toyota system took my VIN and told me my 2010 IV is a V. I'm not sure how far I trust it.

(The car is unmistakably a IV. It's missing the V stuff, and also has IV stuff that wasn't offered in V.)

It was funny, because the seller I bought the car from had it listed as a V, and when I went to look at it I thought to myself "well that's sketchy, but really I'm happier it's a IV so I won't complain". That was why I then checked on Toyota's system, and figured out the seller probably wasn't dishonest ... probably had just checked it the same way.

I'm only finding three different windshields for a 2015 on parts.toyota.com:

56101-4E928 on any trim up through Three

56101-4E930 possible starting with Four, maybe to do with the fancy rearview mirror (which may, in Canada, also have a rear camera display)

56101-4E931 another possibility in the Four or Five, maybe associated with the lane-keeping camera.

If I look on ToyoDIYcom there seems to be one more version, a 56101-4E929. I'm not sure what's special about it. The -4E928 seems to be the most basic one.

What's weird is, I'm pretty sure the HUD was an option in 2015—I can find the projector in the parts list—but I don't see anything in the descriptions of these windshields indicating which one goes with the HUD. I'm positive you need the right one for that, because people who get the wrong replacement aftermarket complain of really annoying HUD double-images.
