Doing a couple things, sound deadening to the roof, but also adding mounting brackets for a permanent roof rack install, so I need to drop the headliner for access.

I have the PDF that went around for interior panel removal that came from another thread:
    priuschat.com/attachments/p3_interior-panels_removal-pdf.18985/

My question is... is it truly necessary to essentially disassemble the ENTIRE interior of the car just to drop the headliner? It seems that pdf describes removing...everything? Just wondering if anyone has dropped the headliner without stripping the car to bare metal first.

    Thanks!

Oh, I don't think you need everything out. Just the stuff that goes up to the headliner, like the pillar garnishes, and all the stuff that goes through the headliner, like both visors and the map lights and all four grab handles and the partridge and the pear tree.

The grab handles are very fast to install, which I'm sure is why the factory likes them, but annoying to remove.

Then you've got the transitive dependencies, like you want the upper B pillar garnishes out, but their bottom ends are behind the lower B pillar garnishes, whose bottoms are behind the front and rear door sills, thankyouverymuch.

Likewise, I think the upper quarter/C pillar trims are, at bottom, concealed behind the lower quarter trims, which will involve you taking out several bolts, the hatch area tie downs, and so on.

    It's not everything ... it's just ... tedious.

Okay, thanks for the reply! Yeah, I figured there would be a lot of hip-bone connected to the thigh-bone stuff, but the PDF is 18 pages long and it genuinely seemed like I'd be stripping everything but the seats to get the headliner out, haha. I've dropped the headliner in other vehicles, but they weren't so interconnected, just upper B pillars to remove and that was about it.

Oh well, it's only time, right?
