Tiny Windshield Specks in Bright Sunlight

Well, I'm not entirely sure. I don't see an etched Toyota label anywhere on the glass, or any markings for that matter. The old windshield had an etched Toyota label in the lower left corner on the driver's side. The masking around the rear view mirror is identical. The Safety Sense camera and rain detector cutouts match, and the centerline marker triangle bottom center of the glass is there. The projected HUD image is singular and clearly visible. The receipt from Safelite lists the windshield alone for $203.08. I'll ask my service writer next time I'm in there, but I suspect probably non-Toyota.

 

Enjoy it while it lasts. Then the pitting theory will win.

 

OK, I promise, this is my last out-of-generation post on the topic. I noticed today on the way home from work that there is an etched label in the lower left corner of the windshield on the driver's side. And it does say Toyota. The lettering is rather dark and hard to see, which is different from the lighter lettering on the old windshield. I worked nights all last week, so I was travelling in the dark and missed it.

 

I must have the worst luck. Or Arizona is just way too harsh on windshield glass. Eleven days after replacement I catch another stone on the way to work. Passenger side this time, and the crack is travelling toward my side of the glass. Woe, is me.
