I have this Prime Plus version since 2016 and wondering if this car comes with the basic factory alarm? I have tried today and could not get this factory alarm to set. Basically I left the window down, locked the car using FOB, and left the FOB far away from the car. With the window opened, I reached into the car after ~1minutes and opened the door. Tried many times and no alarm activated.

Im wondering if this car doesnt have any alarm from factory.

I might be wrong, but I don't remember PP having an anti-break-in security alarm other than a manual Panic button on your fob.

Really. I was going to install shock sensor but now I guess I’m not.

    Any after market alarm recommendations?

Never had one installed on any of my cars. I think many remote engine starter fobs and telemetric can function as a security alarm and remote locator, but how good they are in terms of theft deterrent, I have no idea.

When I got my 2017 plus, there was a glass breakage alarm offered by Toyota as an option. I almost got it but the dealer talked me into a Karr alarm system instead.

One minute might not be long enough to wait.
Do you have an owners manual ??

You need to be careful with after-market alarms.
You can easily run the 12 V battery down......so that YOU can't get in either.
Or when you do, it won't run.

I did look up the manual and didn’t talk about any security feature in this car. I guess is none.

Can anyone try in his prime plus version ? Arm the car and then reach into the inside door handle and open the door without disarm? Is the car start screaming?

If your simply looking for a solution to deter catalytic converter thieves; a simple remote motorcycle/moped alarm should do the trick (around $15). They run the gambit; one piece w/self contained battery, to alarm style units. I opted for the alarm style modular unit w/9V battery backup; tossed the wimpy alarm horn and wired directly to my car's horn relay. It's another FOB on your key chain, but it works. No battery drain issues, since it was designed to draw off of a small motorcycle battery and I know how to properly install alarms.
About 8 years ago, my girlfriend had her car broken into at her apartment complex. The amateur car thieves / wannabe hoodlums mangled her ignition switch and settled on taking the dollar and change out of her ash tray. I replaced switch and re-keyed the car - installed one of these units. She didn't have anymore issues, other than the neighbor directly in front of her assign parking space telling her the alarm went off - once in a while. So I guess it's doing the job and money well spent.

    This is what I installed:
12V Universal Motorcycle Alarm System Anti-theft Security Start Control Remote | eBay

There's also a self-contained unit, under similar items, that'll literally take you a minute to install. the problem with this unit is that you'll have to change the battery every 3 - 6 months. Depending how often you use it and how often it goes off. Make sure you point the alarm horn down, so the sound will resonate.

Check out fortin.ca - they make alarm/remote start units that require little to no wiring (t-harness install). They plug and play and use the factory data bus to catch the door/trunk/hood opening and you can expand their basic kits with either RF kits that give you a 2 way remote that will notify you if alarm is triggered, or even cell phone options. They've been my goto for remote starts for years.
