One of my customers recently bought a Prius Prime.

When the EV charge is depleted it's only showing one bar continually. I believe he's looking at the EV readout and not the one for the hybrid battery.

He just charged the EV battery this morning and it's still showing the EV battery charge level. He wants to see the hybrid battery charge level instead.

He also wants to access the hybrid battery charge levels when the EV battery is completely depleted.

What display mode does he need to be on so that this can be easily seen?

Thanks, and hope all is well.

There is only one traction battery and the display shows the whole thing. There is nothing to switch. And the battery indicator on the Prime is nothing like that on previous generations, including the PiP. It's also different from the regular Gen 4 Prius.

I annotated the nice picture provided by @don_chuwish to explain. The top part, which I put an imprecise green rectangle around is the percentage of charge that is available for EV mode. Once it gets down to the little nibs that point inward (the green arrow points to one of them) the EV portion of the battery's charge is used up and only HV operation is allowed. That part is highlighted with the red rectangle. Those little nibs mark the percent of charge that forces the change from EV to HV driving. You should also notice that the color filling the indicator is slightly different in the upper and lower portions.

Because the battery is so big and the HV only percentage is such a small percentage, you have to look closely to see any change in that indicator. But, in fact, there's no need to even bother looking at it when in HV mode. I have never seen mine drop more than a tiny whisker below those little demarkation nibs. Just drive it and let the car amaze you. ;)

He/She could use a split-screen and a slightly larger battery display than one found in HSI. Also, I believe the battery display on the head unit as well even for the smaller display on the LE model. But the point is as already commented by others, there is only one traction battery. No separate EV and HV battery display.

Thank all you very much! I'm highlighting this post and making sure the next Prius Prime owner I know gets all this information.

    All the best

And...the other battery is the 12 volt battery that has the job of energizing the electronics to get the car started plus powers the radio, etc., during accessory mode. It does not crank the engine--the engine has no starter motor nor alternator. One of the two motor-generators, connected to the traction battery, cranks the engine when needed.
