It took just 2 hours to fit the new front struts. So now all 4 corners have been updated.
The 350 mile round test drive really showed how bad the car had become as it just ran over all the bumps and tackled the cross winds at 11,000 ft on Bear Tooth Pass.

The trip on fuel seemed to be very positive.
Bozeman to the peak (10,943) retuned 32 mpg
Bear tooth pass peak back to Bozeman via Yellowstone 68MPG

Overall 50.4 that had 120 miles of freeway, several huge climbs and some slow tight corners with rolling hills.

Next is the ball joints, link pins and tie rod ends. :)

I got them from Detroit axle - seem to be very good fit - went right in for both front and rear.

    Any updates on the shocks/struts?
    Which brand(s) are you considering?

The struts made a huge difference to the ride - well worth the effort!

The ball joints just came from Ebay with links and tie rods for cheap - like $60. Had the workshop fit and do wheel alignment. No more rattles over the rough roads. For a car thats done 369,000 miles very happy. The battery with the 5 replaced cells is holding up great on early morning starts too!.
