Trailer wiring

    I am wiring a trailer hitch that provides power to the trailer independent of the car wiring harness

    i have threaded the wire that i will attach to battery post accessory bolt/nut up to the part of the car that has the axles going to either wheel

    i do not want to risk entangling the wire in any moving or hot parts. I am reluctant to trust tie wraps as the plastic strength might degenerate
    With heat and cold

    so i am looking for a path to pass by the shafts
    And any other moving parts that is most free from movement and heat and which do not get me in trouble if a tie wrap should fail.

    any recommendations?

    I don't have an answer to your question... but
    Is this on your 2006 Prius or do you have Prius Prime? You have posted under the Prius Prime General discussion forum. If it is for your Gen2, you may get more answers from folks familiar with your car.     I’m not sure the best path to route the wire, but I do suggest:
    1) Use an inline fuse connected at the battery. Connect the wire to the other side of the inline fuse.
    2) Cover the wire with split wire loom. This will prevent the tie wraps from cutting through the wire’s insulation.

    I think the Curt T-Connector set up is well thought out.

    E-trailer.com YouTube channel has the install of the harness on a Prime.

    Even if you have no interest in the harness, the routing info might be helpful to you.

    The Curt kit looks nice.

    It is very important to use an isolation device to ensure there is no additional load or back feed to the car circuitry to prevent damage or faults. You should not power the trailer lights directly from the car lights, rather use them as inputs to a separately powered isolation circuit.
