The OP could let the dealer do the install, as the difference in labor charged may be reduced by the 102 diagnostic fee already paid. With a dealer install there would be no core charge, as the dealer already has the old battery as a core. Letting the dealership do the install will also gain a 3 year nationwide dealer warranty (granted the HV battery won't be failing any time soon, so the warranty is mostly useless), instead of the 1 year parts warranty for an over the counter purchase. There is also the possibility that the mom and pop may charge more since a new OEM battery swap would take additional installation time over a buttoned up cardone plug and play.

Still a good idea to clean the HV fan if there have been any furries or longhairs in the backseat over the last 14 years.

It is not weird at all, what the dealer stated is quite true.

It has got nothing to do with being a grammar nazi. It is the writer's responsibility to write an understandable post. It is not the reader's task to try and decipher what is written (but all well and good if they can). If the writer does not write clearly, then the writer cannot then get abusive towards the reader because the reader cannot understand what is written. There are good reasons for having the rules of grammar and punctuation. I do not usually comment on grammar and/or punctuation, but seeing as the writer opened the door it feels acceptable.

Yes. The local service center is going to run their own diagnostics (first available appointment Nov 18). They are reaching out to the Lebanon dealership for the battery. But we want to verify first that it's really needed, because there are no dash warning lights at this time.

The new Toyota OEM hybrid battery for your Prius is $1,699.70, not $2,500.

Just bought today you will not get delays or denso computer see pics below I had to remove in parking lot because they told me I had to give them a complete battery not so because they're not giving me a complete battery see the pictures on the bottom is the new battery on top of the new battery is the front of the battery case where the relays and the car connects to and the orange plug goes You don't get any of that with the new battery so I had to remove what's on top of the battery pack in the parking lot and take it with me

Not a good idea to mix used an new cells, creating possible hazards and performance issues, not to mention that if one module failed, the others are also about to fail.

Yeah I thought about this battery refurbing nonsense and all these cottage industries that have popped up around this notice in electric cars that battery pack gets replaced not cycled and recharged and discharged and sold back to you for $1,900 no sir so I figured either something like the Dr Prius thing or the factory Toyota battery at the 1699 you pretty much can't go wrong I mean most of them hold up Jesus anywhere from 10 to 17 years

No for a battery I'm going to get a rack of new cells nickel metal hydride or a rack of lipo cells from like Dr Prius All made to rack in my original case basically and use all the connections that are all available in our cars without a whole lot of re-engineering the wheel or the battery as the case may be

Reading his thread, he spent many days rebuilding his battery pack every few thousand miles or so. There is very little point in rebuilding an old battery pack if you know that if the replaced cell failed, others are about to fail any time, as well as the used replaced cell.
