Glad you get to keep your car. I had a run in with one of your Moose's East of Montrose CO. with my old 2014 Prius. It made a mess out of the windshield but I was able to drive it back home to Texas.
I need to try something like you did with that speaker also.

Ouch...those moose are extra dangerous...they are big problems in Alaska and Maine.

It'll be a month tomorrow and my latest update was they are waiting on a bracket for the radiator and the new windshield to come in...then it'll be done....the wait is killing me!

At 58 years of age, I avoid driving from dusk to dawn. Night vision isn't what is used to be. Not to mention I would feel terrible about ending the life of an innocent animal.

Well I finally got her back yesterday! Looking over the list of parts replaced, I was surprised they also had to replace the air conditioner unit but it is located on top in the engine compartment so maybe the hood hit it when it crunched down. (I was unable to open the hood to inspect in there before giving it to the repair folks.) Most of the front outside parts were replaced, including the headlights and sensors, which weren't cheap. (As well as the windshield which they had to order from Toyota.)
You really can't tell the car was damaged....perfect job. The only thing I had to do was to re-install the black door edge protector on the passenger side as they removed it for repainting. They did replace the UFO speaker so I'll have to deal with that again. I had wrapped it in pipe insulation but now will look at connecting the wires in the connector so it thinks it's still installed.

Or slow down?… My neighbor recently told me he hit and killed a bear. His comment “I’m okay and my car is not totaled. I was just driven, why did that bear run in front of my car?”

Today’s vehicles are designed with occupant protection as a priority. They are designed to crumple, and thus save the occupant from injury or death. This often sacrifices the vehicle partially or even totally. Very much worth it! Part of this design is pedestrian or bicycle safety. Perhaps in the future animals can be considered as well.
