eBay head units from eBay

I'd like the replace the head unit in my 2009 Prius, largely to get Android Auto. I think I can do this at Halfords by buying a Pioneer thing they sell and paying them £75 to fit it.

A much cheaper option is to buy one of the many units from eBay, like this and fitting it myself, based on some YouTube instructions. The problem is that many of these instructions seem to involve varying degrees of complicated wiring to make the "harness" of the new head unit connect to the available cables. I would have thought that if I bought a head unit that is labelled appropriate for my make of Prius it will fit, but I'm a little sceptical, even after contacting a few of the vendors.

I'm wondering if anybody on this forum has tried buying this kind of after-market unit and fitting it? I don't mind following the YouTube instructions, I just really don't want to have to build my own wiring harness...

Any advice gratefully received - I'd particularly welcome recommendations for a specific unit that is known to work with a 2009 Prius. I had specific links in my message, but I'm not allowed to use them in my first post.

You posted in the GEN 3 subforum for years 2010-2015
I think the 2009 HU is the same as 2010.

Some of the Prius specific models are shaped to fit the dash. Some are generic 2DIN units with a Prius specific frame.
There is a difference in units designed for a RH drive and a LH drive Prius.

Assuming you have a base unit NOT JBL. wiring should be plug n play, including steering wheel. The vendor I bought from (Aliexpress) said there is 2 different wiring configurations. I sent him a picture of the factor harness and the back of the factory radio.

Now if the unit you buy is a generic 2DIN in a Prius frame the wiring might not be plug n play. Ask before you buy.

edited to add You want a unit with built in wireless android auto. The Pioneer unit might be more reliable.
