    Greetings,

    I have 2011 Prius 2 with 160k miles.
Heard some noise upfront only when moving, friction like, sometimes metallic in nature.
    Took to the dealer.
Was told need front shock absorber, 1600, sway bar connection, 450, and front arm, 1100.
They said bushings are all worn out. Boots need replacement as well....
    About 3k total for this.

Is that about the right time for suspension to fail?
    Is the price about right?

    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks much!

So I'll reach out on a limb here and guess that this rubbing and grinding and scraping has been going on for a long time if the sway bar bushings and whatnot are so ruined that they ruin the metal of this sway bar that sway bar bushings will not fix the problem that was one hell of a wear. Struts or shock absorbers they do wear out I don't think I've ever driven one until it was metal on metal but stranger things that happened road conditions how you drive quality of the roads how fast you go down the poor quality roads etc all add up to this is 211 about right well it used to be we threw cars away at 50 60,000 miles so just to be going over 200,000 not too shabby 3,000 it's a little high for me but for some maybe not two struts a sway bar and something else three grand seems a little high that stuff just drops out on the floor basically it's not really complicated except the office chair jockeys and whatnot

    Thanks,
No, the problems did not start until 2 days ago.
Yesterday was a soft friction sound. Today more metallic....
I thought the wheel bearings were going bad. But did not expect all of this...

Take it somewhere else and have them
check the car out. Not a dealership. Don't tell them you had it checked already.

these are all brought on by road conditions.

Probably you can get away with replacement of sway bar bushes and/or broken sway bar link.
Front (lower) arm wouldn't be necessary unless its bushes/ball joints are badly worn and driving is unsteady.
Rubber boots may be replaced only when seen broken and torn, and shock absorber seen wet.
As suggested above, seek a second opinion.

Is it just when rolling, or when braking? Have you check the brake pads?
