It must be a really flat drive! Im driving I-5 and get 52 as my best( 70 mph ). But very hilly here in Oregon.

The hills aren't the difference. The guy getting 70 MPGs is driving 55 MPH (slow).

You're driving 70 MPH (fast) and getting 52 MPG. The speed difference is 90% of the explanation

On my commute if I drive 55-60, I can get 70-75 MPGs fairly consistently. If I go 70, I get 55-61 MPG

Give it a try with a longer trip, you'll be surprised.

I live in Quebec so, you can count me in on the cold winter. I saw my mpg dropped from 52 to 43 (all city driving of course) within the last few weeks. I'm I mad? Not at all, simply because last years I owned a 2014 Corolla and the mpg was dropping to 27 in this type of weather. Any cars will use more fuel when it's cold.
