Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and am taking my girlfriend to look at puppies this weekend in my 2006 toyota Prius, and I noticed yesterday that the door won't open. I waited a day since I'm a busy student, tried again today and still nothing.

When I walk up to it, it doesn't unlock. I push the button on the remote and the red light blinks on the remote, but still nothing. I insert the key into the slot and turn it both ways, force the key in the other way and turn it both ways there, still nothing. The door won't open and the Prius won't respond at all. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it is? I am wondering if perhaps the battery in the car has died, yet why this would stop the apparently manual lock from working with the key I don't know.

It is your Prius and your key, right?

The manual lock should work regardless of the 12V battery - thats why it's there.

Did you manually lock the driver's door when exiting and leave one of the other doors (the passenger door) unlocked? This overrides SKS but, as stated, you can still unlock the driver's door by pressing the button on the remote or manually unlocking it with the key.

I had the same thought, but was reluctant to say it.
