2012 PriusC check light notification

It is possibly a battery failure, but too early to tell.

Somebody needs to hitch up a diagnostic computer (or smartphone app) and interrogate the onboard system.

For a Prius c, 8-9 years old + warm climate + yellow triangle/check hybrid system warning is usually bad news about the battery, but not always. If you aren't confident in working on it yourself, take it to a garage that knows hybrids or to a Toyota dealer.

Here's one easy out, maybe: check the battery cooling fan under the rear left seat. Make sure the intake is not obstructed and there isn't any dust or hair clogging the fan or the tube attached. There are YouTube videos that show how to do the whole thing with a vacuum cleaner and a screwdriver.
