So I finally got the bullet and changed out my shocks at 140k miles. After I lowered the car on trd springs the ride got very bouncy and it was just embarrassing lol. Anyway I bought new rubber boots, new bushings, new strut mount bearing. When I compared the size and pressure of the shocks it was so bad on the used shock, it went down easy and came up very slow. Front struts we’re still decent but not as good as the new konis.

    #Installation
Rear shocks are easy pz to do, I used the existing shock covers.
    Front struts
I must’ve taken these part 4 times because I forgot had the bushing upside down, forgot the collar, had to rethread the strut post because initially I torqued it dow. With no collar and the nut stripped the heck out of it. I had to get a m14 die with 1.5 thread pitch to do this. I also went to Home Depot to get a new m14 but which looked identical to the one koni gave however when trying to put it on a new threaded strut it wouldn’t go down easy. I was baffled at this so took the strut apart again and rethreaded again! Haha finally I thought maybe I have the wrong pitch size on the nut, I mean it’s possible right. So I used the original nut and bam went on easy. After that I was able to put everything back together and torque down the strut top post nut.

    # performance
Man these things are awesome when paired with the trd springs! Ride is firm but compliant, corners flat and braking and acceleration are are good and flat. I tested going over familiar roads where there are large bumps and rolling streets and it handled them like a champ. I’m mad I didn’t do it sooner tbh. I know some don’t need all this performance but if you are in the market for new shocks I recommend these.

    # tips
Buy new boots, and bushings, rubber pad where the spring sits. Strut mount bearing. Etc.
Don’t cheap out, these are ready to go another 100k and the rubber won’t lol.
