    Costco.com has extended their sale on Michelin tires to November 12. The $60 off a set of 4 tires (applied at checkout) brings the price of a set of 4 X-Ice winter tires (size 185/65R15) or Pilot Exalto A/S performance tires (size 195/65HR15) down to $316 plus tax. This price includes mounting, lifetime rotations, lifetime balancing, and Costco's road hazard warranty. These are probably unbeatable prices on tires that offer superb grip and safety.

    You might also be able to use this deal to negotiate a great price at your favorite tire shop.

    I just bought a set of 195/60/15 Pilot Exalto A/S from America's Tire Co, but paid $353 after rebate. This is an awesome deal!!!!! I'm going to see if they can price match and give me back some moola.

    Btw, these tires are the best tires that i've ever owned. After 300 miles they are proving to be extremely grippy, quiet, and so far i see a 3mpg hit.

    Does this mean that you are getting 3mpg worse mileage? Is there one out there that gets better mileage than the OEM? Thx

    I bought the Michelin MXV4's in 195/60/15 at Costco. So far, they seem to be at least as good as the Integrity's, fuel economy-wise. It's a little hard to tell because of the plummeting temperatures. Speedo accuracy is a little worse than the Integrity's - reading 1.4 -1.6 high vs .5 high at 60MPH.

    The Exalto is an entry level high-performance touring tire which means it is very grippy and yields less mpg. The Yokohomas Avid Touring might yield very similar MPG to the GY Integrities.

    You are welcome :) Oh, I'm also thinking that the Michelin MXV4s PLUS will give you similar mpg and yet achieve far greater comfort and lower road noise. The MXV4s are OEM tires on previous Accords and few Lexus models, but they compromise some handling (still, way better the Integrities).

    Consumer Reports measures rolling resistance in their tire tests. In November 2006 they rated H rated performance and grand touring tires. The ones that they measured low rolling resistance in were the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 (1st overall), Continental ContiProContact (4th overall), Michelin MXV4+ (11th overall), and the Continental ContiPremierContact. The Dunlop Sport SP 5000 is not available in our OEM size 185/65R15, but is available in compatible sizes 195/65HR15 and 205/60VR15. The Continental ContiProContact is comparable with but superior to the MXV4+ in my opinion. (For details see http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=ST&...st&p=337746 .)

    Consumer Reports also measured rolling resistance in their Nov 2005 test of basic all-season tires. I tend to prefer performance and touring tires for safety. The winner of their Nov 2005 tire test only came in at #12 in the November 2006 test of H rated tires. I vaguely recall that the Michelin X-radial was very low rolling resistance and the Hydroedge was somewhat low rolling resistance. Better ask someone who care more about tread life than traction or check the CR test for details.

    The Transportation Research Board did a study of tires and fuel efficiency. As part of that, they compiled data on rolling resistance of many other tires. http://www.trb.org/publications/sr/SR286Ro...stance_Data.pdf
    Here's some rolling resistance coefficients from the TRB:
    Goodyear Integrity == 0.0076 to 0.0128 (depending on tire size)
    Michelin MXV4+ == 0.0085 to 0.0095 (depending on tire size)
    Continental CH95 == 0.0082

    (The ContiProContact replaces the CH95 and has even lower rolling resistance according to Continental.)
