if i am correct, this is only a problem for the Advanced trim. the premium and plus dont have the sensor recall...right?

@bisco my 2005 Prius compressor goes off itself after some hrs. If I leave it and turn it on, it will blow cool and still shut off after some hrs. What do you think will be the issue with the AC? I just fill with refrigerant 2 weeks ago. I leaked out the refrigerant to be able to remove the engine for overhaul.
What do you think is wrong with the ac compressor?

sounds like it needs a rebuild

The A/C compressor in Gen 2 is electric, and it runs when the car's ECUs tell it to run. In Gen 2, it has a three-phase electric motor, and the phases are produced by a dedicated A/C compressor inverter that is part of the inverter/converter assembly under the hood, and that inverter follows the commands of the HV ECU, which is responding to requests from the A/C "amplifier" (just another ECU, despite the odd historical name).

If the car were mine, I would take no other step before connecting some software (Toyota Techstream is the obvious choice, but others may be possible) to watch what those ECUs are commanding, and see what they are telling the A/C inverter to do at the moments the compressor is not running.

There may also be trouble codes available. Even without software to connect, you can get two-digit versions of any A/C trouble codes: just hold down the AUTO and the FRESH/RECIRC buttons, while powering the car ON (two power button presses, no brake), and watch for two-digit codes in the corner of the touch-screen display.

Thanks. I cade came up on the inverter cooling system.p0a93 and b1475. Can this code make the ac compressor not to come on?
I just cleared the codes now and the ac compressor is working. @bisco

P0A93 means the inverter assembly is not getting adequate cooling. If you have a scan tool that can retrieve the extra 3-digit "INF" code that goes with the P0A93, there is one that means the coolant pump is more likely, and one that means the cooling fans are more likely at fault.

If you don't have such a scan tool, experience puts that inverter coolant pump fairly often at fault. You can tell if you take the top off the inverter coolant bottle and you don't see any motion in the fluid when the car is in IG ON mode.

B1475 means the section of the inverter that produces power for the A/C compressor was overheating and shut itself down to avoid burning out. The issue will keep coming back until the cooling problem is fixed.

P0a93 was the only code on the hybrid control while B1475 was on the AC system.
I checked the reservoir for the inverter and I can see movement inside it while the car is on. What could be the problem? What is the maximum temperature for the inverter coolant? I read the data and I saw the temperature was as high as 188°.

If you re-read post #25, you will see that the power to turn the A/C compressor comes from the dedicated A/C compressor inverter that is part of the inverter/converter assembly under the hood. It depends for its safe operation on the cooling system of the inverter assembly.

Your B1475 code from the A/C system tells you that the dedicated A/C inverter circuit shut down for an overtemperature condition. Your P0A93 code (from the HV ECU) tells you why.

It won't hurt my feelings if you would rather look in the Repair Manual (more info) for what those codes mean, and when you do that you will also find several pages of troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue. That is the best source of information and I do recommend looking directly there in preference to taking anybody's word on the internet, including mine.

Thanks for the info, I don't have the repair manual. Can you share the page with with? I will appreciate if you share it

We've got a wiki page that Elektroingenieur kindly put the effort into compiling, to explain a variety of different ways to access the repair manuals and other technical docs, some of which may be free of charge depending on where you are located, while others may have a subscription fee that is generally not very high.

I don't happen to know which of those options apply in West Africa.

Because I am not the copyright holder, I generally steer clear of sharing whole pages or sections of the manuals, though there are some other members here who are more comfortable doing that, and if one of them comes along to this thread they might again. For my part, I try to limit my reposting from the manuals to whatever short excerpts or paraphrases go most directly to the crux of a particular poster's question, as I did upthread.
