Thanks, folks...I'll go ahead and cancel my appointment since it seems it's designed this way! (I would probably keep it if their 2022 Tundra's were in, but they are not.) :)

What did I do? I noticed the other day that the year in my fuel entries was set to 2022 somehow. When I finally figured out yesterday how to fix that, it wiped out the whole year of fuel expenses that had been tallied. I didn't notice yet if my running mpg figure was affected. I'll check that this morning.

Bought VCX Nano and scanned my 2016 Prius with TechStream 11. When configured as N.America, 3 calibration updates are available; if EU is selected it showed no calibration update column at all. Furthermore, K line (pin 7) and L line (pin 15) were no good. Are these differences considered normal? and does Prius support K-L lines pin 7/15 at all? Have a nice weekend.

Ordered some windshield wipers a few days ago. Still waiting on them, but should be any day now. Still working through the "replacing all the things" that you do when you buy a used car. It has been pretty dry the last month or so, so it wasn't a problem. But I don't wanna be caught blind next time it rains. The current wipers are streak city - no clue the last time they were replaced - maybe a year ago, at least?

Neat. Do you feel that we could get the car to stop beeping when I have it running, but shut the door?

I don't live in the best of areas. I don't want people to know that I left it running, whether if I lock the door from the exterior or not.

I changed the oil/filter in the 2021 Prius...put 5,000 miles on her in just over 4 months. I got my 0W-16 from my dealer and noticed it comes out of the bottle a little browner, now, so they must've gotten complaints on how clear it was...made it hard to check the oil level on the dipstick. (Mobile produces the Toyota oil.) I'll have to see if the Mobil One 0W-16 is, also, a darker color now.
I've been wanting to change out the HV Filter in my wife's Prius (going on 5-years old this year) so check my Toyota Parts guy and he had to order one...less then $10.

Valvoline 0-20 synth used to be almost crystal clear and was near impossible to read after an oil change. It's gotten darker too. I use Mobil One now and both it and Valvoline have a brownish color out ot the bottle, but are still hard to detect on the dip stick.

Replaced the HV battery fan filter in my wife's 2017 Prius. Not really surprised at how dirty the old one looked, it's a very thin filter. Will be updating my maintenance list to replace the filter at around the 4-year point or 25,000 miles. (She only has 26,000 on her car.)

I would like to smack the engineer who designed the plastic retaining clip for the cover. It's impossible to remove without destroying it. I even had a tiny pick to lift up the center part but, nope, would NOT pop up. Now I have to search through my two boxes of various clips to replace it.

Working with plastics in the winter is hell, unless it's your main occupation and you already know what you can get away with.

Are you talking about the filter down at the passenger's side back seat? I remember checking it, but didn't see a retaining clip holding it to the panel.

Yes, Mambo Dave. It's not a big clip and has a center that looks like it unscrews with a Philips head but it's a big lie....you have to pop out that center part but there's little room next to it to pop it up....horrendous design!!

I put in a CarPlay2Air in my Prius. It's connects my iPhone to the Apple Play wirelessly and it's pretty fast...great when just jumping in the car for a quick trip...don't have to plug in the phone. It, also, has a USB port so, if you want, you can plug in the phone to recharge. (But you have to let it connect to ApplePlay before plugging it in or else it gets confused and won't connect.)

I’m currently renting an Ioniq PHEV that has wireless CarPlay built in. It’s faster to connect than our Prius with the wireless CarPlay adapter. But… known issue with Hyundai/Kia is that wireless CarPlay is flaky. Sometimes it refuses to connect. Other times it’ll terminate the connection and not reconnect.

by comparison, our Prius’ CarPlay has been rock solid. We’re doing a road trip with the Ioniq this weekend, and I’m hoping it won’t glitch on us.

there’s a lot to like regarding the Ioniq (beautiful display, for instance), but glitchy CarPlay would be a deal breaker for me. I normally rent a Prius Prime, and will do that again in the future over the Ioniq If it’s available.

Updated the Radio with the latest software revision so it would stop crashing every once in a while and activated the heater with Techstream so the battery would actually heat up when plugged in. Should improve cold range a bit...

For almost a year I've been running aftermarket bulbs on my 2019. I should say TRYING to run. There are two companies that provide an aftermarket solution : Junack and Veleno. Both only lasted a month and since I buy from Japan direct, it means I have to also ship back on my dime if there are any issues. I've tried 3x sets between the two and always have one side die out. One of the replacements only lasted 2 weeks one time.

While waiting for my FOURTH replacement set, I happened to come across a fog light kit that actually has an adapter for the stock harness to an H11 bulb, complete with new aftermarket lenses. I was kind of excited because I could finally just traditional h11 bulbs.

Everything installed perfectly although the beam pattern isn't exactly ideal. The new set doesn't have any adjustment points so it is what it. I'm thinking maybe the bulb I'm using might be too bright for the small reflector and that's why I'm getting the current pattern, but I can't be sure. The beauty of it is now I can try a variety of bulbs and find one to my liking.

I have no clue who sells this set. I can't find the manufacturer and there's no website listed. It came with led bulbs but I wanted to use my own brand. The set was used and I got it off Croooober in Japan but I've never come across another set like this, especially having that adapter to use an H11 bulb.

Stock "bulb" on the right, new lense and H11 bulb in the left. Both have a yellow film that I installed IMG_20220303_091801.jpeg IMG_20220303_063826.jpeg IMG_20220303_093726.jpeg

After searching through all the menus a few times, I found the way to reset the date. It's found under "calendar" not "date"....so date must be something lost in translation from Japanese. My car's system date was about a month off after the collision shop had it for about a month fixing the front after the deer collision....they must've left the battery disconnected the entire time.
Thankfully, the computer automatically fixed all they hybrid history data with correct days for the past few months...so that's good.

Went from a 9" screen to a 10" screen. I wanted something just a little bigger that wouldn't block the air vents or the climate controls on the bottom. Unlike my 9" one, this 10" didn't come with any new bezel or frame for "clean" install. I thought I could get the display flat against the bezel but there is just a small gap. I'm thinking maybe I can get another shade/visor to help hide the gaps along the edges.

I really like new display because it comes with a physical knob to adjust the volume and push to mute. With my old setup, I had to use the touch buttons and press down the volume until it muted or use the steering wheel controls. The new headunit also has a dedicated button for radio and nav so I don't have to go back to the home screen to select Waze.

My new unit is from Joying and the previous one was Teyes CC3. The Joying supposedly was a QLED display but it obviously isn't. The colors and contrast were much much richer on the Teyes unit. Teyes made a 10" but I really wanted one with a physical button, however the display quality bugs me.... The Joying isn't bad by any means but the QLEDs are just so much better. The Joying unit is also a 16:10 display setup at 1280x800 pixels while the Teyes CC3 is a more traditional 16:9 with 1280x720 pixels. So the resolution is still great.

Just a couple of pics to show the fitment in case someone decides to do something similar. The last pic is a comparison against my 9" setup. IMG_20220410_084845.jpeg IMG_20220410_092458.jpeg IMG_20220410_103253.jpeg IMG_20220410_103313.jpeg Collage_20220410_130051.jpeg
