    Prius generation 2

The car breaks by itself. It has happened several times that the car breaks by itself usually after I started the car and stopped shortly ( went into a shop) and started it again.

After it breaks by itself at low speed, I stop the car, restart it then it works fine.

Any ideas what I should check and repair?
    Thanks in advance for advice.

Do you have any OBD2 codes that you can share?

Can you clarify if you mean brake or break?

Sounds like the car transaxle may be in B mode instead of D. May want to verify you have the car in D, or that the shifter isn't going bad and putting itself into B mode. Or maybe you're brushing against the shifter by accident and causing it to go into B made. I've done that one myself twice in the last year or so.

    Yes, it is brake, sorry.
I did not change the car from D, that is 100% sure. I remember seeing the red sign just when the brake comes on.

I will check out the code.

that means there are trouble codes that need to be read by an appropriate prius scanner.

when you say it brakes, is it coming to a complete stop on it's own with your foot on the go pedal?

By this do you mean, when you take your foot off the gas pedal, it slows down too quickly, like the brakes are on?

    no:)
    Hi!

No, I mean that I drive and it does not slow down but brakes. I did not take my foot off the gas pedal.
But it has happened about three times during the last month.
A couple of seconds after starting the engine so I did not reach high speed.
I just restart it and the problem seems solved. (for some time)

Is it then an odd slowing down, even though you're pushing the gas pedal? Like the car is suddenly dragging some weight behind?

In that case, this is a highly unusual report, and it would be very interesting if you could get access to Techstream (or to any on-board diagnostics tool with data logging capability) and log the brake fluid pressure readings, to actually capture the application of the brakes while you are driving.

Caliper piston stuck? Very common on hybrids because of lack of use.
