    Looks nice. Did you cover everything with conformal coating afterwards? I ask because it looks like several other traces from the connector have bare copper exposed- you want to do all you can to prevent future corrosion and another failure.

    There was a protective coating on the pcb, had access to 100% isop so used that only in the area i was working on, so i could remove the coating to allow me to solder to the pins.
    Id assume the burnt copper on other tracks are what it is, burnt copper from heat that has eroded the pcb, maybe the pcb is at fault generally by design, by the tracks being insufficient in size to cope with the heat from the high voltage DC they are carrying.
    I dont know, but id bet most of the issues with this pcb are this type of failure.

    No, I havent coated it, what would you think could be used?
    My brother has floated the idea of filling the lot with resin, the type used in HV jointing cables, but any repair after is impossible, so I`m not considering that.
    I dont mind spraying something over it, but what, and something that is easy to buy.
    altho i have tested it in the car and it works, I removed it to hot glue the cables I soldered in to keep them secure, So i have it on the bench.

    google "conformal coating" - it's a material that you put on printed circuit boards to protect them from corrosion and stuff. Some types just air dry while some (better- more durable) products require a small uv LED/light to cure.

    Here in states my local yard has well. Alot of them I've grabbed a few n put up. Many of my Aus Toy Mods members speak of corrosion alot.

    This is very impressive work! Great job saving an ECU from the scrapheap - we need to do more stuff like this :)

    Hi!

    Did this have any impact on the cars fuel consumption? did the MPG drop drastically? AND importantly did the ICE engine run more often than usual??
