I have a 2012 v5 with ATP. Just found a 2017 v5 with ATP. What are the main differences between the two?

    Thanks.

    I own a 2013 Prius v two and a 2017 Prius v four. Neither have ATP.

2017 is a "Facelift" model (2015 and newer). The most obvious change is the front bumper is black on all colors of cars, and resembles a chin.

The Multi-Functional Display (MFD) in a 2017 is significantly nicer. it is higher resolution, and brighter. It also does not have the pesky Harman expansion box found on the 2012 - 2014's which conk out, taking Bluetooth and GPS with it. One really nice feature on the "Facelift" MFDs is that they will read your text messages from your phone.

You get a different Speedometer as well, which has a 3 x 4 inch "Extra Info Display", which is quite nice, especially the "compass" display. You lose the Hybrid Info Display (the tachometer like thing on the far left of the Instrument Cluster on your 2012). You also lose the ability to see instantaneous MPG. I prefer the old style I.C. for those very reasons.

The engine will have the new style rings (Late 2014 and newer), which hopefully means less oil burning.

There are a lot of other differences, but those four stand out in my mind.

    • Updated driver's side impact protection to pass the small driver's offset test
    • New LED headlights (only ones rated GOOD by IIHS for 2015)
    • New MID (higher resolution)
    • New MFD (6.1" Display Audio or 7" HDD)

That explains something I have noticed. I have a 2013 two, and a 2017 four. Closing the drivers door on the 2017 definitely sounds more solid than the 2013. I can tell which car just parked in our driveway based on the sound of the door closing.

If you need ti switch between Kmh to Mph on the 2017 in all trim levels, you are out of luck.

Showing MPH rather than KmH | PriusChat

The Kph/Mph switch button has been deleted on the 2017 models; obviously an oversight.
