Not another 12V battery question!

    And that is yet a third category of battery chargers.
    It is called a high capacity manual charger.
    Same basic design as the original battery chargers from about 100 years ago.

    We all should be reading the manuals of everything we use. The complaints in Amazon reviews for an electric chainsaw I own were all address in the first 3 pages of the manual.

    Regardless of the absolute definition in the Encyclopedia Britanica or whatever of "trickle charger", "trickle" gives the idea of slow, and "charger" gives the idea of charging.

    Neither "battery maintainer" nor "battery tender" give the idea of charging in their wording and sound more like brands than actual functions. Maintaining or tending to a battery could also mean you check and adjust the electrolyte levels, or perform some other type of mainenance to the battery.

    But leave it to the English language for a type of "charger" to be a bad choice for charging and something not labled as a "charger" to be the better choice for charging.

    Obviously you understood me loud and clear when I said "trickle charger" the first time, even if you objected to how I used the phrase. Is there anyone you know who didn't understand me?

    No I didn't.
    A trickle charger is a trickle charger.
    For all any of us know, that IS what you were talking about.
    Wake up.

    AND possibly thousands of people are reading what you post.
    The responsible thing to do would be to use the proper names and terms to describe things.
    And to not get your panties all in a bunch when someone tries to clarify the situation.

    Well then in that case I used a trickle charger to charge my battery, and it worked very well, thank you.

    The more I look up the definition of "trickle charger" the more I see my use of the term isn't wrong. Even Wikipedia says that trickle charging happens naturally when a lead acid battery charger goes into no load float charging mode.

    Just another case of "Don't confuse me with facts, my mind is already made up."

    Trickle charging and a trickle "charger" are somewhat different things.

    ANY kind of battery charger can and does supply only a trickle of current under some conditions.
    THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT A TRICKLE CHARGER.

    I quit. None are so blind as those who WILL not see.
