Wifey loves her 2008 GEN II. It is pretty much pristine. No dogs or grandkids have ridden in it (O.K., hardly). A few pebble kisses on the hood. That sort of thing. But seats look new, center console looks great (I installed a color-matched leather cover over the original fuzzy stuff when it was first purchased)>

But, she is getting a little paranoid about it being 14 years old -- never had any problems. Only thing we have done other than the required servicing (spark plugs, oil changes, filters, 12v battery) is replaced the water pump, had the inverter recall done and have changed the fluid in the transaxle -- twice. Once at 50K and again at 120K.

Now at 150K she wants a new rig.

Any thoughts on price for the Prius? I know it varies regionally. In Oregon, CarMax offered $3000 USD and Carvana offered $2400. Used ones seem to average a $6500 asking price on Craigslist -- A couple of dealers are asking around 10K. KBB and Edmunds like $5,000 to $6,000 for the car for private sale and $3,000 to $4,500 for trade-in/sell to dealer.

I was thinking of starting at $6,500 USD. Pulled the CarFax so buyers can be reasonably sure it has no "history."

She was set on getting a 2022 Rav4 hybrid, but drove one (a used one, as they had no new 2022's on the lot) and was not that impressed. Drove a 2022 Prius, loved it, but wants to "try something different."

Somehow she has decided on a Subaru Crosstrek (today, her mind may change over the weekend). Dealers around here are mostly adding 2-3K to MSRP with no negotiations. Around 15 percent of dealerships are just going for MSRP and a few are doing MSRP, but adding "unicorn and butterfly" packages of $2000-2500.

Shouldn't have a problem selling it for around that, and likely a bit more.

Too bad the market is so damn expensive, as this sounds like a beauty worth owning.

If you have goodish clear coat paint and maintenance records I think $6500 sounds right. My wife got the CRV Hybrid and is very happy, sure we lose a few MPG, but in our opinion it is more comfortable and drives better/smoother than the RAV4 Hybrid.

I sold mine a year ago for $5000 but it had a boatload of maintenance records. And ran perfect.

Had just spent $1100 on new ac evap. And engine did not eat any oil.
Had already sold my OEM cat on eBay for $1500.

Got tired of worrying about the cat. Neighbor across the street sold his a month after mine. Same reason.

Oh and it had a new NPB Hybrid battery too. Was getting 50 mpgs.

If your car has the original hybrid battery it will probably fail right after it’s sold. Cause thats what happens. I would let the buyer know it’s got the oem battery and there looking at that fairly soon. Unless you like a brick through your window.
Cause people are looney tunes now.
