What and whom are you referring to?

At 126K? Maybe. That could be said of literally any car. Luckily most of the Prii problems (and gasoline engines for that matter) can be solved with time and or money.

Also 1 qt in 6k miles? Hardly note worthy for an old toyota.

Steering back on topics... I'm now at 135K miles. Couple more oil changes under my belt, still no burning yet. Couple under shields got cracked this winter so I'm planning to drive up on the ramps soon and repair/replace. OCC has worked great, usually empty it every 2.5K miles to keep it empty.

2012: current miles 150k. Original HV battery

    110k new 12v, engine filter

120k spark plugs, new front and rear brakes pads and re surface.

140k inverter and ice coolant drain and fill, transaxle fluid replacement
Full egr clean, new egr valve, new manifold, OCC setup, new pcv valve

145k brake flush and Toyota ran multiple tests on my pump/accumulator and found it to be in good shape and holds pressure. I was worried since it recharges almost every third brake.

    150k busbar replacement, headlight bulbs

Pirelli p4 tires have been the best. Especially the deals at sams. I literally just have a membership to get the free tire rotation and balances.

Oil changed every 5k now instead of 10k.

I’ve driven this car every single day since the day I bought it in 2015. I clay bar, polish, wax twice a year.

Let's hope that continues to hold true. Got the morning shakes one time but it was preceded with me moving the car about 5 feet and shutting the engine off so likely moisture collected in the manifold.

LOL Wish I had caught it before you fixed it. My prius, the Rheem 2020 model!

    Transaxle Fluid Service

The only mention of Prius transaxle service that I found was a 30,000-mile interval for "severe-duty" driving on 2004-06 models. There's no recommended interval for the newer cars. All I'll say here is that Prius transaxle assemblies are not cheap. Some Toyota specialists recommend changing the fluid at least every 60,000 miles. The specified lubricant is Toyota's WS (World Standard) fluid (Part No. 00289-ATFWS or its equivalent if an equivalent exists).

Note that the socket-head (Allen-head) drain plug on the bottom of the transaxle is the correct one for draining the transaxle. If you trace a line straight upward from this transaxle plug, you'll find another socket-head plug in the side of the transaxle; that's the fill plug. Slowly refill the transaxle through this fill hole until some fluid just begins to dribble out. Then reinstall the socket-head fill plug.

97,500 miles, bought it used with 35K on it. NO issues, other than replace 12 volt battery. No oil usage, oil changed every 10K, Michelin Ice X's (left on all year)rotated every 5K, my last set of the same tires last 40K, Average on refill is mid to high 50's mpg.

I would change the oil every 6000 miles
You have low miles but traction battery getting older and brake system will go out.
Has the inverter had all of the updates.......cause it will most likely go sooner than later.

This has been talked about many times and at the price of WS fluid vs the price of transaxle replacement, I'd definitely just change it!

I'm starting to see at least one or two prius gen 3's a week on Craigslist with blown engines.

A LOT of that 10K between changes is in EV mode, and I like the simple math of oil changes at 10K, and tire rotations at 5K. I am also not sure I am thinking of keeping this car forever, and I thought I read that 10K is a recommended interval? Modern synthetic oil, not like the old school oil.

Some smart people on this site recommend 5-6k mile intervals.

With that being said, I change mine at 10k for the same reason as you- it's a round number, meaning it's two service light warnings (which come on at 5k intervals). But the bigger reason is to save money. Who knows if it'll cost me in the long run, but I'll report back here if my engine is harmed due to changing oil at recommended intervals (service manual).

For 3rd gen, Toyota Canada recommends 6 months or 8000 kms (5000 miles) for oil changes, regular oil changes. Severe service cuts that in half. For 4th gen it's the same 12 months or 16K kms (10K miles), per Toyota USA.

Severe service is 2,500 miles? That's seems very short.

    I’m at 124K miles.

I had a full breakdown once: My inverter blew up but it was covered by a recall (the previous “patch” they provided didn’t work).

I had to replace my sway bar links (I did this myself) and I’ve had to put in new headlight bulbs a couple times. I had the dealership do recommended stuff like new spark plugs and coolant flush etc. In retrospect, I wish I had done the spark plugs myself to learn how! I’ve really started to enjoy DIY. Too bad the Prius has so few issues lol.

Both MG1 and 2 will eventually stabilize for me around 160-180 in winter temps. 190-220ish in summer temps.
