I've been chasing down a P0420 and it looks like the converter is going to be the suspect. I was wondering if anyone has had theirs replaced with an aftermarket one that actually works. I don't need a CARB complaint model and not interested in using a spacer to get rid of the code.

Yeah I've seen plenty of threads of people using them on the Gen 2 but couldn't really find any for the Gen 3. I'm torn because some people say they still get the code and end up having to use the spacers anyways.

How do you add spacers to clear the code? My 2015 Prius with aftermarket eBay cat has P0420 (cheap cat, as expected).

The post below has all the info. I did it to mine yesterday and so far after 70 miles no engine light when it was coming on after 13 miles. If you go this route its hard to get it all installed due to space. They also make curved and angled ones which I ordered today but wanted to make sure the light was staying off first since the curved ones take a few weeks to arrive. Only reason i'm going to change is due to the wiring rubbing on the heat shield.

You can hack fix P0420 with oxygen sensor spacer; don't try anything else! | PriusChat
