Unfortunately PriusChat Rules do not allow newbies to insert links, more time and more posts are needed. I have prepared a post with links, which I will publish here later.

Perhaps due to the colder climate, this problem is not so widespread to think about it. And spare parts from disassembled cars from Japan are not expensive. This pump costs $ 120.

The thing is, in a Gen 3, the pump already has its speed controlled by the ECM at all times.

The thread is about transplanting a c engine into a Gen 2 where the ECM knows nothing about controlling electric water pump speed. The two most obvious ways of wiring up the pump would either run it full out all the time (hard on the pump) or not run it at all (hard on the engine). The WPI-to-WPO hack is just a way of giving the pump a "somewhere in the middle" signal in a car where the ECM isn't generating any pump control signal.

The method with closing the wires is only suitable for Gen2, the native ECU does not know how to control the pump. For C and GEN3, this method is not suitable, you have to experiment.
The first to install the engine from Prius C, or right-hand drive Toyota Aqua, this is the author Koban4eg Vladivostok. Here is his article in 7 parts: ДВС от Toyota Aqua в Toyota Prius NHW20 — Hybrid Club Дальний Восток на DRIVE2 . It's a good job, but a lot too much. No need to change the bottom of the engine.
Here is another setup in 11 parts. The author of Gmaxby from Novosibirsk, here the 5th step is just described: Часть 3. Стыковка двигателя Aqua и коробки приус 20 американец. Подробный свап новый 1nz-fxe на приус 20 — Toyota Prius, 1.5 л., 2006 года на DRIVE2 . The pins differ by 1mm, for some reason they don't write about it, maybe it doesn't matter.
I completely forgot, GEN2 from USA have a thermos, so you need a tee: Часть 10. Схема циркуляции жидкости приус 20 американец. Подробный свап новый 1nz-fxe на приус 20 — Toyota Prius, 1.5 л., 2006 года на DRIVE2 .

Search car-part.com lots of 2004-2009 engines with less than 100k.
A sample attached, just have to sort by damage units.miles, then get past 0 miles pages, about page 5 or 6.
44 pages of engines for 04-09

I think I must be horrible at that site. I can't find engines there.
