Here's how to adjust the mirrors so you avoid the blind spots. It really works, but takes a little getting use to. It works for any car. http://cartalk.king-online.com/CarTalk_20031013/index.php

As for driving in the snow, you might want to look into getting new tires. I have Michelins and they are just fine.

I test drove a 2006 Civic before I purchased my Prius. I felt that the interior of the Civic was way too small and I wanted a car that sat up higher like the Prius does.

    Good luck with your decision.

My experience is different. While driving me home from an appointment at the ophthalmologist's recently, my wife declared that our Prius is her favorite car. This came out of the blue and she had never said such things before about our last few cars, which included 3 E class sedans in a row and a luxury SUV. :)

But on another day my teenage son, who was in the car at the time with me in the passenger seat again, remarked that judging from the display, her FE was poorer than mine! All hell broke loose for a few minutes as i tried to sit lower down on passenger side until things blew over. In spite of little hiccups from time to time, I think she still loves the car.

    Hi All,

This method works well, BUT, only when there is one lane beside the car in the merging direction. If you have a second (or third) lane off to the merging direction, or a lane that is more than one car width wide, its best to pull up out of the seat and crane a look over in that direction!

Its been my experience here , especially on the road I drive, and with the guy in the white lowered older SAAB (apparently a turbo) who has no lane discipline, that this is neccassary. If he is back there at 90 Plus in the shoulder lane, and there is a entrance ramp full of cars up ahead, well, you do not want to merge into the right lane. Are you reading this Illinois State Patrol ? With the Cartalk mirror setting, you wont see cars on the shoulder, a few cars back, from the 2nd lane from the shoulder.

Maybe Toyota can put that truss style pilar in the C pilar location, like those girls at Volvo did for their woman's car prototype? But, Hey, if the Prius already looks enough like a space ship, . Maybe they could put those holes in the C pillar like Space-Ship One has in its nose ? Here is a link:
