have a 2013 prius 1.8 gas engine and will not stay running even i i put in maintenance mode has codes p3190,p3191 down to 2 bars on hybrid battery.so i checked fuel pressure 50 psi drops to 45 within 10 min then stays .the manual says thats in range, blocked egr pipe with scraper to intake no change the test for egr, checked auxillary battery with volt meter 12.06 on my scanner with key on 11.67 manual says with volt meter as long as its 12v or above ok, key on engine off cold coolant sensor 11C ,manifold pressure 98kpa,intake air 16c ,throttle 18%,ambient air 10c ,hybrid battery 37.6%,mass air 0.18 gs .the gas engine will not stay running, hybrid system malfunction light comes on,it rattles and knocks like when head gasket fails but its losing NO coolant, plugs are less than a month old, under my misfire counts i do notice #3 and 4 have misfire counts and when it runs feels like its missing but no codes.im trying not to just throw money at it would like to figure it out .last thing is engine has 180k on it .any suggestions please let me know thank you

i already have read that thank you does not give any good info for diagnostics but thank you .i posted all my readings everything is testing good for the diagnostics for those codes.since aux battery is borderline 11.67 v i might throw one at it but i dont know if aux battery would cause these conditions, and since i have misfire counts for cyl 3 and 4 might try throwing coils at it.so prius owners just have to throw parts at them to fix them.now i understand why so many people get rid of them

It won't. You can charge or replace it and that wouldn't be a bad thing, but 11.67 is not why you have misfire or poor engine power codes.

Prius owners don't "have to" approach diagnosis that way, any more than owners of any other car, and in fact that's not a very promising way to approach it.

You have codes for impaired engine power, misfire counts, and "when it runs feels like its missing". So you haven't got some kind of fancy Prius hybrid issue, you have a four-cylinder gasoline engine that's misfiring, and the things that cause that are pretty much the same all down the years. There are several possible causes you can go through systematically until one is left.

An article toward the back of this Toyota Tech issue gives some diagnostic ideas.

*12V Battery is already dead. 99% chance of it. You for sure killed it bringing the voltage down that far on a starting battery (not a deep cycle). It might bounce back with a charge but probably not. Anyways yeah the car won't go into ready mode if you have a dead 12v. Slap a charger on the 12v and you should at least be able to go into ready mode.
Sounds like at minimum you need a compression test and a leak down test before buying any parts, homie.

Also, if you're engine is failing to start I would be weary of discharging the HV battery. You probably might wanna find a way to charge it.

I haven't seen any voltage lower than 11.67 mentioned in this thread. That's low on charge, but nowhere near a level of discharge that kills a 12 volt battery. You can discharge a 12 volt that far and recharge it a generous number of times.

It helps, too, that a Prius aux battery has the lower CCA ratings and thicker plates that are more characteristic of a deep-cycle battery than of a thin-plate, high-CCA "starting" battery.

If it was turning the engine, or starting but not able to stay running, how could the 12 v be the problem?
