NAV system Time/Space Warp

    I was driving to Durham NC from NJ 2 weeks ago and used the Nav system in my 2006 Prius. When I stared out, it sayd it was 550 miles and 8:55 mintes. As I dorove the miles and and distance counted down normally.

    Things were good until I hit I85 between Richmond VA and Durham NC. When I left Petersburg VA, the computer showed , lets say 2 hours and 120 miles to go, which is about right. As I went down I85, the time suddenly increased by about 45 minutes and the miles went up by about 40.
    I looked at the map and it had not recalculated a different route. I was still routed on I85 all the way. Tried stopping and starting guidance etc but it made no difference.

    We kept our eye on the display as we went down the road and near Camp Hill (?), it suddenly went back to a realistic time/distance.

    When we returned home a week later, the same thing happened: Leaving Durham, it gave the correct time/diatance to home, about a hour out, the time jumped an hour and it added miles, as we got closer to Richmond, it jumped back to normal.

    Any one have any ideas what went on?

    No idea what happened, but i experienced the same thing going from St. Paul to Madison - the time and distance jumped up higher, then gradually went back to where it should be in smaller "jumps" - ie every 5 minutes or so it would drop by 5-10 miles all of a sudden.

    Thanks for the information. I guess it is a glitch in the software.

    Could your route be comprised of 2 mapping zones? I know we're taking a trip from CT to NC and there is a mapping zone change somewhere. Maybe the calculations get screwed up when it calculates between two sets of zone data?

    That hasn't happened to me (at least I haven't noticed it) I'll be sure to see if it happens to me on my next trip.

    Happened with us as well on I 45 in Texas within the same zone. The ETA suddenly reduced by about 40 minutes or so and then a few minutes later corrected itself. There were dense clouds that afternoon and I suspected that the car must have lost the GPS signal temporarily coupled with an erroneous internal calculation based on the vehicle speed.
