    This is what I recall:
    1) I was on the brakes before that red brake alert message/beep blinked/sounded.
    2) The brake pedal was pressed to the floor as hard as I could. I don’t remember if the pedal was pulsating while I had it floored.
    3) The only sound I remember was the tires screeching on the pavement. No warning chimes, etc. from the Prime.

I also had to look up the two different acronyms.

Glad you were able to avoid the cutter offer ahead. Good thing you were already off the Go Pedal. Fun times on the road - NOT !
You description also reinforces the Primes handling behavior that I've also experienced.

fifteen - twenty years ago, at 3am driving a 94 Dodge Intrepid to a morning conference in Toronto, no traffic thank god, 3 deer were standing in the middle of the highway. I was on curise at 70mph and by the time my headlights showed the deer in the road, I thought I was gonna kill both them and the car. I braked and swearved to the left just missing them by inches it seemed at the time. I almost lost the rear end of the car too, but luckily I was able to steer out of the fishtail just barely. I don't think I'll ever forget that one, even though last Oct. I had a deer run into my driver side door while on the parkway an hour before sunrise. I saw the deer out of the corner of my eye maybe half a second before it rammed the car, bounded off the rear door, left some fur in the rear door handle and disappeared into the woods on the other side of the parkway from where it came. I stayed off the parkway in the dark 5 months now. Insurance agents wanted to know if I killed the poor animal. I wonder if they would have not nickel and dime me so bad on the adjustment if I had killed the deer so they could check for evidence or a police report, but it probably just normal adjustment policy to lowball customers whenever possible. ;)

Yes I saw the broadcast of that RPM show
I did not like the tone used in this evaluation in the first minute it started, stating on the use of the 15 inch wheels and their hubcaps..Generally their opinions on Toyota products are not very kind . They usually like sportier cars with pristine handling .My 3 last cars were Corolla's ..considered by these guys as an appliance . So I selected a Prius prime 2022 for the smooth ride, confort, and economy not for race track performance.

So my other vehicle is a 2020 Mazda MX-5 Club.

i guess I’m spoiled but I find the Prime to be a waddling pig. Lol. Ok so it’s not THAT bad. I’ve certainly driven worse.

The problem is the OEM tires. They offer no traction on sharper turns and you’ll hear them squeal and can give out easily. They also are terrible in snow and rain. I’m speaking of the Toyos. They do last a long time though..

Be careful about intentionally engaging the assisted emergency braking….

I used it once because it was needed to avoid a collision, I did, but it threw off my alignment. Had to spend $80+ at the dealer to get a new alignment as after the emergency braking the steering wheel had to be turned a bit right to drive straight. It was weird. So I wouldn’t suggest doing it just to test it out….FWIW..

My driver's ed teach rode motorcycles. During a close call, she bent one of the handles while avoiding the crash. Bending it back required parking and getting off the bike. Adrenalin can be a hell of a thing.
