Behold! A wierd FOB-related phenom!!!!

I took the ChgyPyg to the stealership to have a service plus have her winter-boots replaced with summer-wheels shod with summer tyres, and although FOB was working in the usual manner (i.e. when it was in my pocket or on my person), the driver's and passenger's door unlocked and I was able to start the car without any problem. I left the FOB in the slot in the dash whilst the car was being serviced, but when I came to collect the car, the door-locks wouldn't open unless I used the buttons on the FOB, and the car wouldn't start unless the FOB was in the slot! I'm wondering what narsty habit ChuggyPyg might have picked up from the stealership. Any ideas? BTW, we replaced the battery in the FOB, all to no avail, and when I tried the spare FOB, exactly the same thing happened!
