Jacking / Lifting points on your Prius

    For the floor jack I would use the front and rear jacking points (described in owners manual). For safety stands the scissor jack locations (described in owners manual) are POOR. This is 3rd gen pic of the points I used for safety stands, but I believe second gen is very sim:

    Finally worked around this by jacking up both sides with a pair of scissor jacks until both front wheels were off the ground. Then there was enough clearance to put in the floor jack. Lifted it a bit more, pulled the scissors, put in jack stands. Dropping it wasn't a problem. Just raise it off the jack stands, pull them out, and lower to the ground. The floor jack pulled out OK, even though it scraped a little on the plastic shields.

    I have a similar problem with my floor jack. I drive the car up onto two 12 or 15" (300 or 375 mm) long pieces of 2 × 8 (or what we call 200 by 50) which gives me enough clearance to get my jack under.
