I do keep my battery fully charged (through regular EV driving) and my car is new, but I don't think a 30-day 12-V battery standby time is a big deal for the Prius Prime in a mild climate. They are left undriven in dealer lots for much longer (albeit not these days with the vehicle shortage).

We are going in a circle again. Almost all of the 12v battery discussion on Gen4/PP on this forum ends up this way.

My opinion was already posted in my previous comment below. If anyone wants to take a chance letting the Gen4/PP sit for 30 days undisturbed, go ahead. Just make sure to have a jump pack ready in case the car does not start. The older the 12v battery, the higher the chance it will be drained dead. But with proper care and precautions, I think the 12v battery should last many years, certainly, my 2017 PP had the original 12v battery when I sold it ~3 years later. I don't plan to keep my current PP that long, so I am probably fine doing nothing. But If I can prevent the trouble and cost of dealing with the dead 12v battery by simply monitoring it and connecting the battery charger as needed, that's easy enough and more cost-effective for me.

Well, according to OP's profile, JeremySeanBell was last seen: Monday at 11:40 PM, that was well before I jumped in the conversation to stir up the discussion on the 12v battery issue. I hope he found someone to give him a jump start by now.

i'm always amazed when posters don't return without a solution. maybe they solve it, and forget.

so much good advice here to be had, and op sounded like he could use it.

Yes, a relatively new battery in a mild climate is a best case situation. The other point to keep in mind is that we hear about the relatively few problem cases and not the probably huge number of users who never have anything to complain about.

In your case, the typical temperature in LA County might be a bit high for the fixed charge voltage of the PP. If it is too high, it would tend to slightly overcharge the battery. But if you didn't drive much that would help keep the battery charged so no problem. If you drive a lot, you might find that the battery uses a little water but since our battery has removable caps that still isn't a problem. I'd recommend that you check the water level annually as part of your regular maintenance.

Checking the water level and topping it off with distilled water is something that is ignored, including by me, but it is very important for the longevity of the battery. It should be a part of the regular six-month maintenance schedule.

Was your car plugged in? My battery died in 10 days plugged in while was on vacation. The battery was old but still tested good.

No, it wasn't. If you plug it in, it will reportedly draw more current after fully charged to check the charger.
