You can follow owner’s manual under overly optimistic conditions or worse forget like I did until too late and damage has occurred.

My 2010 Toyota Prius factory maintenance schedule is written for ideal highway miles not city miles.

Auto manufacturers make their money on sales and services not teaching consumer
how to repair and make vehicle last forever.

For example, sealed transmission is a misrepresentation.
Now my Prius has a failing engine, blown head gasket and revving (slips)
automatic transmission that stays in low gear too long. All YouTube videos confirm these are easy DIY.

Just need a hydraulic jack, 4 stands, gloves and factory service manual, plastic body trim tools, socket tools and a torque socket wrench.

Spray can of brake parts cleaner.
Can special order manual from parts or
Repair Manuals Online, Buy Workshop Manuals, DIY Service Manuals
    —————-

5k 6 months oil change (buy big box full synthetic) protects fuel injectors and engine preserving MPG. Mine was 50 now 30 MPG.

50k 5 yrs radiator coolant (acidic after 10 years)
protects head gasket, water pump from acid.

50k 5 yrs inverter coolant for hybrid.

    Maintenance Mode when changing coolants.
    1. start engine
    2. gas pedal twice
    3. brake, neutral
    4. gas pedal twice
    5. brake, park
    6. gas pedal twice, brake, start.
5 yrs bleed and change brake fluid.

    50k power steering fluid (hydraulic).
Prius is electric steering and no alternator.

30k differential and transfer case fluid
    for AWD and trucks.

100k 10 yrs Iridium spark plugs else per factory manual and 2010 Toyota Prius 4 Piece Ignition Coil Set if cracked or signs of water damage.

30k AT WS fluid thereafter every 50k 5 years
drain not flush preserving MPG, avoid shift and
    slip issues.

186k miles. I’m the original owner purchased new in July 2009. Replaced inverter under warranty at 77k miles, all recalls fixed, replaced
A/C fan and oil at 10k intervals.
    Original brake pads at 50%.

Yes and fuel injectors. Prius too far gone to
sink repairs. Plan to trade in for problem free
new Lexus LC 500 last hurrah or Nissan 400z.
Did you know the spark plugs on a Lexus UX 250h
can be replaced in under 10 minutes DIY?
Not so with Prius, requiring removal of wiper cowling.
