in l.a.? i have to question the effectiveness vs cost plus electricity. but if you're all about 1 and 2 mile trips, maybe a used pip.

My lifetime average according to Fuelly is 4.6 L/100Km (51.1 MPG) with 17" rims. It all depends on your driving style, your commute, tire pressure, condition of you car etc..

So what do you think on changing out these tires and or rims to a better tire - better gas mileage and or less of a low profile

    I have a 2015 Persona with about 130k
    Runs great, gets about 40/42
I want to swap out the low profile for taller and maybe regular size tires and rims
I tend to get flats on it more than should be I would think

You could go to 15” rims. I’d hang onto the 17”’s though.

And what about getting a little taller/bigger tire 215/55/17?

17" rims for esthetics or function
I loved the lines and look of the persona - with the low profile
I just was thinking a bigger tire would help
The tire websites say not recommened

Some have gone to 205/50R17: slightly narrower and taller. Keeps OD the same.

Over the years, I have found that 18" rims were definitely prone to flat tires and cracked rims. 17" was not nearly as bad, but it seems that the shorter the tire height, the more likely you will get flats. If you can get a tire like Mendel has suggested, you will be better off. This is one of the reasons I have decided to stay "stock" when it comes to tires and rims. Cruising with cools tires and rims just costs more overall and if you have the money and enjoy the look......go for it!
