I’m assuming this is a bad thing?

Purchased the Dr Prius app and used for the 1st time yesterday. Is a 07 with 221xxx miles. Just trying to wrap my head around all the data……..since this is my first hybrid.

What exactly was happening at 5:24 PM on Thursday? That looks like a moment when the battery was taking a high rate of charge.

This was simply in stop and go traffic and happened several times while braking when approaching a red light

Had you just come off a longish downhill or something? The state of charge is a little higher than what the car shoots for most of the time.

no downhills to speak of. At one point all the packs turned red for just a second so I wasn’t able to get a screen shot. I’ve driven the car for 1100 miles since I bought it and zero codes. Just out of curiosity I bought the veepeak unit and the Dr Prius app. Car has averaged around 49 mpg on 3 fill ups. The seller did say that I should buy a new 12v battery soon but have not had any issues and carry my jump pack with me.

I would say you caught your screenshot during regen braking.

I’ve driven the car for 1100 miles since I bought it and zero codes.

and you still have no codes. The car is doing its thing. Be happy with it and drive. If you monitor it frequently, you'll get used to how it acts under various situations. The Prius is a very smart car, it will definitely tell you when it has a problem.

I’ve seen this too on regen braking. Otherwise my battery performs well with sub 25 IR and 0.1v differential voltage amongst cells.
I think it’s an artifact of the Dr Prius app. Would be nice if Dr Prius had an instruction manual. If they have one, would like a link.

I sent them a note asking for some kind of guide or instructions. Really don’t want to watch 30 different videos to understand what the data means. Will post their response.

As someone who had a track battery go (as many have lol) if your getting 49mpg then you should be good for a while. Dr Prius is great but if you don't understand the readings fully it will freak you out at times (well it freaked me out)

First sign that track batt is going is usually a drop in mpg. Example here in Pittsburgh with alot of hills I can get 36-52 mpg on a tank depending on where I drive with most tanks being about 38 mpg. This winter before my battery went I was lucky to get 29 (though it was deep freeze and ran heater high which probably over stressed the battery)

If you live in "flat lands" and are currently getting 49 then get a tank below 40 maybe plug in the old doctor for a tank or 2 and check consistency of read outs.

Unless you are a heavy hybrid geek that has a solid knowledge of the system I would recommend not running the Dr all the time because it will drive you batty. I ran it for my first 3 months straight and every time I parked I knew something new was wrong with baby. Then using advice and info from Prius chat I learned I was to paranoid lol

The big thing on Dr Prius is the "voltage diff" reading. As long as that consistently stays at 0.3V or less, then the car is happy. If it goes above that for a bit, the HV battery ecu will take notice. If voltage diff goes too high for too long, then the ecu will set codes. 0.2 to 0.5V diff for a few seconds during heavy accel or decel is not unusual.

(The higher the voltage diff, the less time it takes to code- for example if the diff is 1.5V from a shorted cell, I would expect a code within a few seconds).

State Of Charge - with "normal" "steady" driving the car will maintain 60-70% - about 5-7 bars on the center dash display battery gauge. Stop and go driving (esp with A/C) can let that go to 45% SOC (2 bars).

Your car looks to be fairly normal right now. Watch the data you have now, if the data changes from what you see now, then it might indicate a problem.
