    Hello,

Back on April 10 I ordered an auto dimming rear view mirror from the Prius Chat shop for my 2016 Prius.

It has not arrived and I have received no communication after the order confirmation. I have contacted them twice and got no reply either time.

Does anyone know how to contact the Prius chat shop? Has anyone else shopped there? Is it a legit thing or is it just stealing money?

    Thanks for any information,

    Matt

No phone number on the contact page and the address is a residential home. Try a different browser in case the form isn't working?

Yes.....the owner of this Forum also runs the "shop"......poorly.
    There have been many complaints.
All seem to be resolved eventually but it might take MONTHS.
And yours might not be resolved.

You could try sending a private message to user "Danny" from the main forum but that might not work either.
    Good luck.

Sam's answer is, unfortunately, pretty accurate. The store seems to be pretty much ignored by the storekeeper. Tons of complaints, but nothing ever gets done. It used to be fantastic.

    I e-mailed [email protected].

At this point he seems to have literally stolen my money. Should I call the police? I'm not sure what to do.

I won't be visiting the site much after this as I don't want him to get ad money from my visits. This is horrible and illegal!

Where did you find the address? Maybe I'll serve him a summons to small claims court.

no they won't, they have a relationship with each vendor.

besides, danny will get around to it eventually. all these problems resolve themselves.

So, it sounds like it's wait for what could be months or a year or sue/cops/credit card route. I don't like any of those options!:-(

sue soundsmore expensive then loss. cops won't be interested. you'd need the fbi for interstate commerce fraud.

cc co. is the standard resolution, not sure what your hesitancy is. i used it on a $1,000. home generator repair that went bad, and got my money back.
didn't really get it back, because they put a payment hold on it until the resolution.

cc co's don't take kindly to vendor fraud.

Also, technically I used a debit card so not sure the same stuff applies.

I actually talked to the criminal justice professor at work and I may actually have some options with law enforcement. I'll give him a day or two to respond to my e-mail before I call the cops though.

My hesitancy is that I don't take kindly to having my money stolen!

That's just one of the options. I have a few avenues I can take and I'm not opposed to multiple ones.

This is why it is best to use credit cards, not debit. Credit laws give you a couple months after the statement date to dispute a charge. If a product isn't delivered, or for some other reasons, the card company will do a charge-back to the vendor, costing them not just the original charge but some additional fees too.
It has been only two weeks. At least with credit, the vendor has more time than this (30 days??) to respond or update or make good on an order before anyone else can intervene. But you should still be trying to communicate with the vendor.

Check also with your debit card company for rules about dispute resolution. And do it quickly, find out what your responsibilities and dispute deadlines are.

The differing consumer protections for various methods of payment are why I always use credit, not debit.

I don't understand why everyone is so caught up on credit and debit card issues. This is an issue of theft. That is a legal matter regardless of what type of card was used.

it's probably because you are not experienced in this kind of thing.

but please let us know what avenue's you try, and the results. maybe we can still learn something new.

If your primary goal is to get your money back, the type of card used matters a lot. You are MUCH more likely to succeed at getting your money refunded if you used a credit card than if you used a debit card, because credit and debit card transactions are governed by different laws and regulations.

If you don't care as much about the money and your primary goal is instead to get revenge on the website operator for inconveniencing you (by subjecting them to financial and/or legal penalties), then it STILL matters a lot which type of card you used, because again, the laws governing online transactions differ according whether they're done via credit card or not. Therefore the legal avenues available to you will be different depending on exactly how you conducted the transaction in question.

This is the way the US financial/regulatory/legal system is set up. You don't have to like it, but if you want to succeed you will need to work within it. The people pointing out the differences between credit and debit card regulations are trying to help you with this.
