Hello out there...I am having a hell of a time trying to fix this 2008 toyota prius from showing the red triangle, and multiple icons on the main screen, and a new icon of a red car exclamation and red icon of the main battery. I have opened the hybrid battery and changed all low voltage cells with good used ones. I restarted the car and on the screen there is 4 bars of blue for the battery, then they drop off and eventually to one purple bar on the screen. It does run for a few start ups , then it wont start until I take off the negative battery cable.
I have checked and cleaned the hybrid fan and it is running back there. I replaced the hybrid battery cpu with another used one but that didn't fix it. I checked the fuses and none were blown. What next? The battery cells were no lower than 7.10 volts. Could it be the front main cpu that is locked up in old codes...faulty? Also the p3190 code is showing up....
    Nick

yeah, that's no way to fix a car. get a prius aware code reader, and read up on best practices when rebuilding a battery. lots of threads here from experts.

7.1 could easily be a failed module, or just a depleted module.
If you have to disconnect the battery to get the car to start, you likely have a P0AA6 HV isolation fault.
If you're dealing with a P3190 then you may just be depleting the HV battery, as opposed to having battery module problems (other than the P0AA6)

The OP likely isn't running the ICE at all, just spinning it at 1000rpm for 10 seconds until it times out ("crank" - no start condition). Do it 3 times and a code will set and prevent further attempts- unless he removes 12V power which clears everything.

So he has some problem- out of gas, fuel pump, whatever. All he has been doing is discharging the HV pack completely flat.
