    Hello.
My prius is a 2005 model.
All my fluids have been changed last year, engine oil, inverter coolant, engine coolant and transmission fluid.
About a month ago the car is making more transmission noise on the highway, during braking you can hear the speed of the car going lower thru the transmission noise.
There is sort of a rubbing sound when you make a left turn around a bend on the highway.
Today i lifted both wheels and spun them and also turn the wheel left and right and there is no rubbing or abnormal sound coming from the wheels.
Recently i had the car rust protected and the cv boots were intact, no rips.
Everything under the front end looked good.
Do gen 2 prius have a problem with the transmission or electric steering, the car has approx. 180.000kms on it, so not too much mileage for a 17 yr old car.

Any help would be appreciated, before i have to take to my mechanic or dealership.

    Thanks.

not as a regular problem, but anything is possible at that age.

still, i would suspect something in the front suspension and have it looked at by a good shoppe before moving on to the tranny.

it can be difficult to determine where noises are coming from. when you raise the car, taking the weight off of the suspension, it changes everything.

What did the trans fluid look like last year?
And how much trans fluid did you put in?

The G2 trans is probably the most bullet proof trans ever made.
I ran Redline D6 in mine for 14 years trans never made a sound.
    Changed 3 times.

Thete have been a few reports of chain failure and a bearing failure on this site but not common.

You didn’t mention who did the trans fill hopefully not the dealer.

If it was me I would get the car fairly level and open the side fill hole and see what the fluid level is it should be at the top of the hole.
If not that’s not good #1.

Then pull the trans fluid and try to measure the volume should be 4 quarts.

Also check how much metal is now on the dump bolt magnet and then put the fluid in a wide mouth container and put it in the sun see ifyou see any nonferrous metal in it. Mine never had any metal on that magnet just a little soft mush.

Also check there’s no trans fluid leaking at the cv joints where they enter the sides of the trans that’s kinda common.

Have you tried getting up to speed like 60 miles an hour
And put the trans in Neutral and see how it sounds?

    Good luck.

If there is a noise when moving, and it changes some when making a (gentle) turn in one direction but not the other, then a wheel bearing is near the top of my list of suspects.

Any chance the recent rust proofing work did something. What did they do?

I would second the wheel bearing suggestion. Can you post a video?
